OoT is probably not the best example to start with. Sure it is beloved by many but to someone brand new to games it's going to look and feel archaic and clunky. Just in your pic it looks incredibly barren and empty. Many kids who grew up with it don't want to hear this or admit it but it's not especially user friendly or attractive to a newcomer in modern times. Play some SNES games, those have aged very well.

With my ex it was Chrono Trigger, then Ocarina of Time. She was surprisingly good at Chrono Trigger, I got to see her beat it, but I have to say, I forgot how bad someone could be at a 3D game until I saw her try Ocarina of Time. I could never get her to remember to target the enemies. We had to give up at the Forest Temple for awhile and then we broke up before I could see her beat the game.

By the way OOT is actually a really candidate, it has a TON to offer and helped get me further into gaming when I was a kid. However if you want something more basic, I also suggest Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island.

My wife played Chrono Trigger and enjoyed it. She didn't really like JRPG's before, but it kind of changed her mind. Now we like to sit and play RPG's together. It's a good way to sit and talk and play at the same time. Women aren't particularly good at hand/eye coordination stuff, so RPG's without ATB type stuff are usually pretty great for them. We play Persona games together now and she really enjoys them.

Showing to my girlfriend right now:
- Final Fantasy 8 (She heard about it a lot and wanted to see for herself)
- Parasite Eve (I got a NG+ overpowered save)
- Tail Concerto
- Umihara Kawase (hard as hell but she loves its cute style)
- Castlevania games by IGA (she loves the bestiary and the whole Metroidvania concept)

She's a big fan of Ace Attorney games (well, she's a lawyer), so she's more into "story" than gameplay/graphics. Hence why I play them all with tons of cheats to get rid of tedious parts (erm drawing magics, really?).

I'll try to get her to play Trials of Mana with me next, or show her the original Metal Gear Solid game so she can be ready to watch me play Death Stranding when it comes out.

Get a dreamcast. Tons of good titles on that one that she could get into like E.G.G. and Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II etc. and the graphics still stand up today. Then you have action oriented games like Power Stone and Sonic Adventure, etc. Best way to get into classic games these days in my opinion.
