Why is this shit so expensive? It costs more than a used N64 by itself!

Tell me about the Everdrive 64. Can you fit the entire N64 library of games on it? Is that why it costs a fucking mint to buy one?

You can fit nothing on the Everdrive 64, games go on the SD card.
>Is that why it costs a fucking mint to buy one?Woah like $120, what a "fucking mint" holy shit, only the richest aficionados will be able to afford this, man time to remortgage the house

I fucking hate the Nintendo 64 with everything. Emulation is so poor I gave up on Goldeneye and slew of other games simply because I didn't want to deal with poor emulation.
But the N64 itself plays like absolute shit as well, so it's choosing between to garbage options.

The N64 controller is fucking garbage but all the third party ones are even worse, and a Hori pad costs an arm and a leg.

But no even the games itself are bloated up to insane prices due to high demand, so you end up with garbage shit like everdrives with horribly bloated pricing for the 4 games that can't be emulated properly.

Yes, but don't get the one pictured. That's an older model that needs a legit n64 cart plugged into its top. Get a newer, flat-top model that doesn't require that.

N64 games were like 50 bucks when they were new. There's no way a plastic cartridge with NOTHING on it to begin with should cost over $120 dollars. At most we should be spending $50 dollars because it isn't a game. It's just a peice of plastic used to play games. Let me guess. The SD card is sold seperately too?

"a piece of plastic", how fucking dumb are you? There is a sophisticated chip along with RAM in the cartridge. If it was a single cartridge with "something on it" then it would cost a lot less, but it would still have a significant cost as N64 cartridges are expensive to produce. The fact that you can load it from a SD card means that the data needs to be held in RAM and not ROM, that's what makes it significantly more expensive than if you were making your own rom.

By that logic harddrives and computers worth millions of dollars are "a piece of plastic with nothing on it", they're not even plastic fool.

It's expensive because the guy who makes it is the only one making a quality version of it, so he can charge whatever he wants and still move product. An 8gb SD card should be enough to hold every N64 game on it. I bought the v3 a month ago and don't regret it, but I have money to spare. I've been playing Majora's Mask and having a blast, plan on beating a lot more games as I love the N64.

The main question when considering one is whether you can stand the terrible state of N64 emulation. The only alternative is to either buy the original overpriced games, or buy a decent flashcart which makes more sense economically if you're going to want to play a lot of different games.

The thing also has a shitty NES emulator built in, and you can create your own background wallpapers. Another interesting feature on the v3 from a hacking standpoint is it has a USB interface, which I don't know much about but could possibly be used to modify data in realtime. It'll probably never happen but I like to dream that some alpha nerd finds a way to modify a rom of goldeneye or something to send player data through the USB port with an interface on the computer that transmits it into over a network so you can play games online on original hardware.

The base model is a little over $100. That's not bad considering N64 emulation is still very shit.

Yes.

1) krikkzz holds a monopoly since there's only like 2-3 alternatives that are shittier and/or more expensive depending on the system

Damn you’re pretty fucking retarded. Also n64 games were more than $50 brand new. Carts cost more money than CD games because of the hardware cost for carts. They have chips and sram and other shit. They aren’t CDs. Flash carts having no game on them doesn’t make them cheaper to make you dull normal faggot lmao.

It's expensive because it's a quality piece of electronics supported and QA tested by a single guy. Krikzz has a pretty stellar reputation.
It takes an SD card. So yes, you can comfortably put the entire N64 library on a relatively small SD.
In the grand scheme of things you are not paying a lot to conveniently play the entire N64 library on one cartridge.

I have bought 2 of them at this point in time, and am considering a 3rd. Yes. Assume you are new to N64 collection, and you are told that for $120 you can have access to nearly all N64 games. It is a no-brainer.

I have bought 2 Everdrives at this point in time. I gave one to my brother, and one to my brother in law. Giving them one of these has introduced the Everdrive to people who are "normies"....and by doing this, I can confirm 8 total Everdrives were sold. This is 8 people who will never give a reseller a single cent ever again.

Even if the everdrive costs twice as much, it is still well in line with a fair price to avoid collectors.
