My favorite thing about AoE2 was to play against the AI and build cities and occasionally send out armies to skirmish with the AI.

I used to do the same thing in Command and Conquer, Red Alert, and Starcraft. It was like playing with electronic action figures.

So, if you press "up" should you character move up in relation to the screen, or "up" in relation to the world, which would mean moving toward the top-right corner of the screen (or maybe top-left, but I never saw that).

Skirmishes in AoE went on FOREVER, but they were really comfy at the same time. It's one of those games I admire, but was never particularly good at. I always felt overwhelmed by this game. WC2 felt always more "to the point".

Is it me or do missions in Desperados take forever to complete? I clocked in 20 hours before I even got to Kate. And tgat's mission 5 of 30.
And the AI in this stupid game was surprisingly clever. I don't know if it's heavy scripting or not, but it had it's moments. I once knocked out the rather obnoxious guard and hid his body. After some 2-3 minutes another guard shows up and goes "hey, where is Joe? Why has he left the post?"... and he immediately went into search mode alerting other guards nearby that something is up. Stealth games AI should not be this smart.

The missions are quite long. 20 hours before kate is quite a lot though. The first 4 characters are very fast to get. Doc's rescue mission is the first one that takes quite long to finish, you should have kate after like 5 hours though.

Also yes, the AI is quite clever. The behavior you described happens exclusively when a patrolling NPC used to talk to other NPCs along the route and they vanish.

>> No.5675021

That isn't the case. When WotC released 3e, they drummed up support for it by issuing the "open game license" which allowed third parties to publish and sell 3e material as they wished. Pathfinder was made under this license.
