How would you rank the Adventure Island games?
Also what about the Gameboy games?

The GB games are just shitty downgrades of the NES ones with a bunch of stages cut.

I only played the SNES one, I'd give it a hard/10.

SNES Adventure island had some badass music. It made me hook up the stereo output to my stereo and blast it.

I love Super Adventure Island 2 to death, wish more games in the series were liie that. The RPG elements were godtier

Super Adventure Island 2 might be the most underrated game on the console, and comparable to some of the best Wonder Boy entries.

I'm partial to arcade wonderboy, pretty great series tho, do not overlook the TG16 it's kind of a remake of the original sorta

I'm surprised the Adventure Island series isn't as popular as many other retro series. It's legit one of the best platforming series, up there with series like Mario, Shinobi and Castlevania imo.

They didn't have as much exposure as, let's say, Bomberman or other Hudson games.
At least on countries where the famiclones were huge the adventure island games were popular (Mexico called it "El Capulinita").

>The console was originally marketed as the Sega Video Game System or just the Sega System at launch, with "Master System" being the name of the launch bundle available in North America, which was followed by the deluxe "SegaScope 3-D System" set and the budget-priced "Base System" set.

True, I remember almost every famiclone multicart included "islander" (Adventure Island 1), but I also remember playing Adventure Island 2 and 3 back in the day. I always thought Adventure Island 2 and 3 were a huge step up from 1.
I don't know how popular they were in USA, Europe or Japan, but to me, it's a classic series. As I said, among the best platformers.
Then again, Hudson did a few remakes of Adventure Island during the 00s, I remember there was one for 6th gen consoles, and it kind of sucked bad from what I saw.
Takahashi Meijin was also playable in a Smash clone called Dream Mix TV World Fighters (along with Simon, Snake, Bomberman, etc).

No surprise, that soundtrack was by Yuzo Koshiro.

Fun game, probably the easiest one, would make for a good entry point for newcomers to the series.
