Let's discuss Fifa 2005, a retro video game.

Yeah, let's. I'm sure a lot of people here will be interested in discussing Fifa.

I agree OP, allowing games from the current millennium here just because they can run on pre-Y2K hardware was a mistake.

>but muh romhacks, mods and homebrew
Homebrew generally is trash and romhacks/mods would be allowed here because the game they're based on is old.

Games and systems should be considered retro based on their discontinued and/or end of support date, not release date.

When they stopped to actually developing a new Playstation Fifa for each year and started just upgrading its roster and releasing it as a new game? 2001?

Answering my own question, yep, 2001. Fifa 2001 to 2005 look exactly the same, just with a different roster and some interface tweaks.
They didn't gave a fuck anymore.

I'm actually BR. And I stopped caring for soccer around 1998.

It seems one of the jannies misclicked and deleted an image of this retro video game (which launched on a platform launched in 1999 or earlier).

Woah I just noticed the top of the image, and it looks like it got a port/remake on a modern system! That's pretty cool. And also permitted.

Yeah, how come? I mean, as you can see in this thread, a lot of people do care about Fifa 2005. In fact, it's part of the /vr/ core, it's an essential retro title, I'd say. Also my childhood DESERVES to be retro, too.

The US is one of the only countries in the world that doesn't have football as its main sport. From Brazil to Saudi Arabia to China to Poland football is the choice of the people. Face it, there is no legitimate reason why the US doesn't have football in its mainstream culture, it's autistic sperging.

I said that as someone from the home of football and you missed the point of the joke.

The joke is that only poor Brazilians would have likely played Fifa 2005 on a PS1. Just as only they would have likely played Fifa 13 on a PS2. The whole reason EA produce Fifas on last-gen systems is because they have a market in the third world, where they often can only afford a generation behind, but love football.

I don't know if you're trying to troll or what but as I said, football is by far the most popular sport in the vast majority of countries and where it isn't the most popular it's certainly up there among the two or three. Baseball, hockey? - are you having a laugh? There are like 6 countries in the whole world who even play baseball to any big extent and no country is big with hockey (if you're talking about ice hockey we're back to about 6 nations again). It's like how India, Pakistan, UK and a handful of nations play cricket. Not even in the same sentence as football.

>6 countries like ice hockey
If you genuinely believe this then you’re a fucking retard. Go to /hoc/ in /sp/ and count how many flags you see. Better yet, go to the NHL roster of any year and see all the different nationalities of the players in the league. Western euros and sand/jungle people are the only ones that don’t play it.
>baseball
>6 countries
Not even a baseball fan myself, but that’s also retarded. Almost the entirety of the Caribbean, Central America, South America, South Korea, the US, and Canada all play baseball. Are you a kraut or a brit?

yeah well 6 large countries that play those sports as a main sport rivaling football. This compared to literally every nation in the world apart from the US that either has football at number 1 or well within top 3. You're not fighting a winning argument here bruh. The world cup final last year got an audience of 1.12 billion viewers. How much did the world cup in basketball get? Diddly fucking squat by comparison that's what, nobody knows and nobody cares except the fans. You can compare the european champions league final of over 200 million viewers with the NBA if you want. And it's cool to be fans of those games, but the point of this is that football is different as it's wildly more popular.
