Any pinball purists here try out the "new" ball physics on Pinball FX3?

Id like to hear your opinion as people often cite videogame physics as trash.

>> No.5642618

I'm thinking about purchasing the new Black Knight pinball from Stern, premium edition.
What's your opinion on it?

>new ball physics.
The pinball FX3 physics are pretty good. No complaints.

>New black knight.
Play it and see for yourself. Is it your first machine? If I was buying one I'd probably go pro, but I'm not buying one.

Party Monsters is also part of the Party series, along with Party Animal, Dr. Dude, and Party Zone.

>>5644372
...and after I read the entire post I noticed those were also on the list. But I'd still put Party Monsters along with those three.

Good call. That never occurred to me.

Discussion questions:
What unpopular pin do you enjoy most?
What's the oldest EM you enjoy playing? (And not just looking at the backglass)
Have you played any super-rare pinball machines?

My answers:
I think of Genesis as sort of "the best bad pinball machine."
I enjoy Apollo/Blast Off, from 1967.
I think Dragon by Interflip is the only foreign game I've ever played. Actually, I played a few other Spanish EMs at Adam Becker's house, but I can't recall them.
I've played a bunch of woodrails at various places, probably not very many people have played those. And I played the Pirates prototype with the three spinning discs.

Wait a minute... apparently there's a fifth star wars game! 350 units were made by an obscure Australian manufacturer in 1980 before it closed down! Dear god!

This board is for the discussion of classic, or "retro" games. Retro gaming means consoles, computer games, arcade games (including pinball) and any other forms of video games on platforms launched in 1999 and earlier. With the release of the 8th generation of consoles, the Sega Dreamcast will now be considered "retro", though the remainder of the sixth generation (Xbox, PS2, GameCube) will not.

Technically the wording implies that only pre-2000 pinball machines can be discussed, but in practice I don't think that's the real rule.

Thanks for the info! Know I know the shitty hipster craftbeer bar I often pass by has medieval madness.
I own an old system11 flipper.
What's making me consider the premium version is the front art: first because it reminds me of BK2000, second because it's silly to have a knight without a horse.
No luck in finding the game anywhere me, though (I live in western Europe).

I haven't, but I doubt I'd have a problem with them. I still play old video pinball all the time.

I just bought a cab to start building my vp table and my cat knocked over the tv I bought to use as the playfield. The whole thing is fucked up now.

>> No.5647661

In the early 90's I played an old pinball. It sci-fi/space themed; there were "ripples" on the field and shallow holes to put the balls in the middle. The field itselft was lunar/martian/any fucking planet.
What could it be?

>> No.5647931

>go with dad to buy a pinball in the 90's
>buy Black Knight 2000 because it was too fucking awesome for my 10 year old self
>take care of it, repair it when needed all by myself
>sister gets married
>brother in law wants to have it when my father dies

FUCK YOU FRANK

I don't think it was this one, but thanks. Spend some time on pinball databases but I couldn't find it. It felt dated back then already.

I tried to recreate what used to strike me back then. Black = holes, brown = "ripples", kinda like lunar craters, grey = metal bar (I think?). It's just a shitty image though, sorry.

I like pinball, but I just play Zen 2 because I don't have room for a real table.

Since you seem pretty into it, is there another pinball table that did the hologram thing like Revenge from Mars?

Star Wars Episode 1. But it's not as good. Ghostbusters premium and Dialed In both have smaller holograms on the playfield.

ehhh....I vastly prefer 2000. I'm waiting on my location to get the one with the upper play field. Fucking Stern, why the hell would they even bother making a black knight game without an upper play field.
