Does anyone know about old games that could be considered "moe"? Like, cutesy adventures featuring young little girls and really adorable spritework.

Things like Monster World IV, Umihara Kawase or Magical Pop'n. Those are the only ones I've played, but I figured there must be more out there. Anyone?

I really can't think about a lot to be honest, at least ones that weren't mentioned. Doremi Fantasy seems cute but it has a male protagonist so that doesn't quite fit.

Also, not retro but Fortune Summoners and the Summon Night Swordcraft Story series fit your description perfectly.

Whoa hold on there. "One guy" is an understatement. JAPANESE PEOPLE worked on a lot of NES games. When it came to the NES, the Japanese were like fucking wizards with it, being able to crank out games within months. The Japs probably have assembly autism.

Seriously though, NES games are far simpler to develop than something modern, plus you can emulate the NES on many platforms. Battle City lists 3 people in it's code, Ikari Warriors 2 lists 5 people, Mario World was made by 7 people. Zombie Nation had a staff of 9 people.

The biggest burden is understanding 6502. Everything else is second nature.
