I keep reading on /v/ that they invented the JRPG genre, but which was their first game that actually did that?

Dragon Slayer

Dragon Slayer really has no RPG elements though. It was arguably Bulletproof Software's The Black Onyx which is basically a Wizardry clone

Honestly, outside of Ys I & II and III, I don't think there's any Falcom game I enjoy or even remotely like. Specially, their trash games of late like Cold Steel and Tokyo Xanadu.

/v/ has a massive boner for Falcom ever since some Kisekifags became vocal as fuck and Ys Seven released. Do the math.

And that's because they want to fuck the waifus and not that the story or gameplay is even remotely interesting.

It's /v/. What did you expect? Nu-Ys threads on /v/, for instance, are nearly just waifuwars.

I liked Ys III and didn't like Ys I+II.
I also like IV and. V.

Although I wanted to correct that, it appears Falcom's Panorama Toh and Koei's Dungeon are listed as two of the earliest JRPGs from 1983.

Hm good examples Anon. Looks like Toh came out in November and Dungeon came out in December. Both look like breddy okay Ultima clones.

They were pioneers of action rpg's. Then a bunch of people left fairly early to start up Quintet.
