Why is it so hard to buy decent stuff on Ebay? It's either overpriced crap or idiot sellers.

Yeah, I have and I get your point. But I told the seller I would buy it then arrange collection, as per Ebay rules if I win and pay but didn't collect, by Ebays rules I would have no recourse. I'm sure the guy selling it wanted to avoid the "it arrived damaged" claim that is no doubt very common with Vectrex. In his eyes, handing it over to a courier OP arranged is no different than shipping it himself as there was never a "buyer acknowledges system is working and accepts possession" moment. In not sure how it actually works but knowing eBay if there was a dispute they would settle in the buyers favor.

Ebay and Paypal are notorious for siding with buyer claims against even documented proof from sellers. They know they already have sellers by the balls because they're the main/only option, so they use "buyer safety" as a feature to attract people to buy from their sellers. Thieves know all about this, and they exploit the fuck out of it to get free shit at the expense of the people they're scamming. Ebay and Paypal lose nothing because the people being scammed have no other serious choice but to keep using them.

>tell the seller with photos showing the damage
