>> No.5632778

Shouldn't have worded like I was playing it now, in fact I don't even have the game installed atm.

That was just my last feeling when i played it about a month ago, can't remember what I did exactly but I'd build just about every building that generates money and try to get exotic animals that get lots of donations and still the income felt slow.

>> No.5632791

>>5632778
Placement of buildings and animals is more important that having a bunch of them. You need to be really careful, and think of how guests will flow. For example, if you have a high traffic area near the end of one set of exhibits, thats the perfect place to put a restaruant, and an entertainment building close but not right next to it. As for animals, you rack up donations by having them near similar animals, and in very high quality exhibits. Donations won't be a primary income source though, concessions are.

>> No.5632898

>>5632778
Placing just a lot of them can actually be disadvantageous if they don't make more money than their upkeep costs, location is everything

>> No.5633020

Do you have any kind of "standard" display size or just make custom cages each and every time? By custom I mean just its size, not how it's organised inside, since duh, each animal has different needs

Different anon and I never, ever made any stable profit in this game. Always just cheated for money, build my perfect park (while usually further ignoring income-generating stuff) and watched animals as they walk in my make-believe zoo.
My local zoo, while one of few in the country and relatively big, is notoriously boring and mismanaged, so I always just vented my frustration over that into the game.

>> No.5633790

>>5633020
10x10 is very spacious and should keep all but the most big animals happy, good when you're experimenting or wanting to play safe. 8x8 also works if you want to be a bit more economical. You can go much smaller though depending on the species and how many you want to put in there.

So how do I know when I should jack up the prices for concessions and for park admissions? I finally managed to make a profit but damn it's like 1000$ a month. It'll take me 2 years to be able to afford to build another exhibit at this rate, the terrain landscaping costs are the money real killer.

>> No.5635742

>>5635707
Look at your food concessions. You have a lot of them in one area, you can cut down on them drastically by pruning the redundant ones. Compare profits, and sell the weaker ones, those should help a lot with upkeep.

Also set your admission to $49, that's a good set up price. Also set up a swimshack somewhere, that's a good attraction, but it also makes guests very tired, so if you place a restaurant near it it's very easy money.

>> No.5635745

>>5635742
>49$
Holy shit that's like double what I'm charging right now lol. Where can I see feedback on if i'm charging too much or too little? In RCT i can tell from guest thoughts but I'm not sure if Zoo Tycoon does the same.

>> No.5635747

>>5635707
>>5635742
Also keep to easy animals near the beginning that have simple exhibits to set up, as well as easy going ones that won't mind mediocre suitability. You can increase the suitability later, just having the animal helps. Also, keep popular animals near the middle or deep end of zoo sections, and lesser popular animals nearby them. The popular animals will attract the guests there and they'll go through the lesser popular exhibits to get to them. Otherwise if you put the most popular animals near the beginning, they might skip lesser popular ones.

>>5635745
You'll get a notification. Generally admission price isn't the biggest deal in the world, and it can be used to your advantage during scenarios when you want to slow down how many people are coming into your park.

>> No.5635775

>>5635707
>>5635747
Also, one final thing, your path is too small. For side paths and other low traffic areas that's not a big deal, but for your main path and heavy traffic areas, it should be wider. I usually make my main path 3 wide.
