What I want to know is, what is that one game, or games, that you enjoy? Doesnt have to be hidden gems, just those games that you love for one reason or another. I'm kind of looking for some idea's for new games to start up.

Bullshit, HG101 reviews are the exact opposite of this if they even bother going into detail about the gameplay. Most of the information in their reviews can simply be found by searching said game on Wikipedia. I'll never understand why they have such a good reputation around here.

to be honest, I wish more PS games would have just cut the voice overs out if they wanted to leave no trace of japanese-ness so badly, as the english voice overs in that time period were dreadful 90% of the time

Castlevania III. I never played it as a kid (never even had a NES) - in fact, I hadn't even played it until a few months ago (January?) but it blew my mind how awesome that game is. It's like it takes everything that was great about the first game and polishes it to perfection, while being 3 times as long.

serious? I have been looking for a new NES cart to hunt down. I think I'll try and get a copy of this and give it a run. I wanted to do the same with Megaman, but those threads de-rail too fast to get a solid answer about which one is the moat enjoyable/challenging/fun.

General "consensus" is that Mega Man 2 is the best game, and I won't argue that it isn't a solid game, but I find Mega Man 3 and 4 to be the best games with the improvements they make (Rush, the Slide, and the Mega Buster), and 5 and 6 are both good games, though easier than 3 and 4. 1 is the weakest game, IMO, because it's inordinately hard compared to the rest of the Classic series.
