Also bonus if you've never played the games. I don't care for a lot of the crummy 2D platformers or action games they try out.

similar idea, but:

1. It's broadcast on an actual Nipponese TV Station. Though low budget, it's a slick professional show.

2. It aims for kid friendly and general audience. Little negativity, certainly no swearing. I don't even know if the Japanese even have swears. When Arino loses, he'll whine, but never any negativity. Contrast with "Angry reviewers" who focus on getting angry at these old games.

The tone is sort of through trying hard, we can overcome these challenges, so keep trying. Even the games that are very obviously bad games, should be seen as quirky bits of history, rather than hated.
