I don't like that you fall through the floor if you try to jump when the crushing thing is crushing you. I swear to god, every time I'm not paying attention and get hit by the thing, I instinctively jump toward the rings I just dropped and die.

Yeah, there's some minor physics/control issues like that. My biggest problem was how fiddly the Light Dash could be, which made City Escape's hard mode a pain to beat due to that bit where you need to bounce off an enemy and then aim towards a string of rings and Light Dash as you hit it. More often than not Sonic just wouldn't do the Light Dash and fall to his death instead.

People complain that they only like the Sonic/Shadow stages despite the Tails/Eggman stages being pretty fun. No they're not Sonic-esque but they weren't really trying to be. The treasure hunting portions are pretty bad unfortunately and almost entirely because they downgraded the radar from Adventure 1 for no reason.

It's a fun game to play with only some jankiness to it (nowhere near the amount that Adventure 1 had) and a lot of charm. It's the only time they ever got modern Sonic's tone right, too.

I liked them better than the SA1 stages. The design was better and the new hint system worked much better with the new grading system.

I would say that the level design was better and more well suited to the nature of hunting down emeralds but holy shit the emerald radar was completely ruined. I have genuinely no idea why it only shows you a single emerald at any given time leading to retracing your steps just in case the next emerald happened to be somewhere you already went past.

There is actually a code for PC that fixes the Emerald Radar so it'll check for all emeralds, along with one that reduces the time you have to hold the Spin Dash button to actually start one.
There's also a mod that allows you to give the Mechs Gamma's physics, but this feels kind of cheaty since you move a lot faster, and it doesn't change their god awful turning.

I didn't dislike the exploration and shooting scenes as such, but in general I never cared about multi-gameplay games; You'll always enjoy some of the play styles better than others and end up wishing the whole game was like that

In this case, it made sense for a Sonic game to be more about quick action and spectacle, and I couldn't help but hope we had got 16 cool high speed rollercoaster stages instead of just a handful

Both Adventure games are charming platformers with the same level of quality as your average 6/10 PS2 game.

The one thing I truly dislike is how awkward the speed sections are. You just awkwardly hit walls and lose your momentum or fall through the loop or Sonic just keeps moving to the right even though you are just pressing up.

Mission Street is one of the harder levels in the game to fully complete. Especially the time trial is brutal. Most of the rest are pretty easy, yeah, but it probably has a lot to do with how early-game many of them are.

Also, as far as 100%ing levels and getting all 5 A-ranks on them, the really hard levels are Mission Street, City Escape, Radical Highway and Final Rush. Honorary mention to Metal Harbor for essentially being a treasure hunt for the very specific manuevers you need to do to get the A ranks. Not very difficult once you figure them out, but it'll take some time to locate them.
