Ever since the game was first released way back when, I finished the game so many different ways just to see all the cool shit that changes in the endings. Whether you save Crono and leave him dead, kill Magus or have him join you, or using the Epoch to ram your way past Lavos' outer shell battle will alter the ending you get in pretty significant ways without it becoming like the joke endings from New Game +.

It's kinda fucked up that killing Magus only restores Frog back to Glenn in the ending, would have been pretty cool to see his sprite in action.

The supposedly canon PSX/DS ending FMV pretty much establishes he eventually changes back to human regardless, though.

Magus's real name in Japanese katagira is "Mauo" which mean "Demon King".

"Fiendlord" is most accurate translation, making the DS version the definitive version that is closer to the creator's vision.

In the half ass translation of the original, they call him a "wizard" WTF? Wizards were supposed to have died out and become long forgotten after the Dark Age. It also makes Magus seem less human at first because he is supposed to be generic JRPG bad guy with a generic JRPG bad guy name at first until you ge mid way.

I know this and this why I have only play the DS version and will continue to only play the DS version.
