wondering if anyone else knew about this trick in Super Mario Bros 2.

if you mash B by the door, you can sometimes get a "hat", which becomes a normal item in the next room.

Yes, glad I'm not the only one. Underrated game now, but at the time it was huge. I think technically its full name is "Super Mario Bros. 2: Mario Madness" which is a hint at what's really happening, Mario is having a crazed fever dream.

Yeah, it's still kind of freaky too. SMB2 had the best boss fights of any Mario game.
