Hey /vr/ austro fag here.
i'm starting to be a collector now and wanted to ask if can anyone recommend me ways to purchase retro PAL games that aren't now ebay or (austria exclusive) willhaben (dot) at.
also some general tips would be great aswell.

sidenote: i'm a hobby electritian and can fix some cartridge games, so sites that sell broken games could help aswell

I'm not European and can't help you OP, but this topic (how collectors go about their hobby around the world) interests me and I hope you get useful replies.

Why do you have two copies of Angry Birds OP?

A good collection takes time, but years later when everything is coming along nicely, you can look at it with enjoyment. Unless you really like Angry Birds.

Germanfag here.
I've bought most of the stuff I own on ebay, but after visiting a convention about two months ago I kinda regretted that decision.
Seeing the games before buying them can save you a lot of hassle, and most of the time the prices are very fair as well (most of the guys selling stuff were private sellers).

I'm not sure if there are conventions like that in austria, but some of the german ones should be close enough. The retrogamescom for example regularly takes place in bavaria or baden-württemberg.

I was at the biggest Linzer Flohmarkt (yard sale) today and got me a NES and a PSX game for 9 euros. There is a huge range of consoles and games.

Which games? Dont buy retro for the novelty alone, you need to get the actual good games.

No, no, no. You've misunderstood his post. He wants to *collect* games, not play them. To hell with this australian faggot.

what's your problem? I got WWF Wrestlemania Challenger because I like wrestling and my son wanted Jeremy McGrath's Supercross '98. The wrestling game is pretty rad.

Germany here as well.
I bought most of the games and consoles from eBay or local fleamarkets.

I haven't been buying anything lately because the prices have been on the rise on both.

People selling SNES consoles for 90€ in VERY poor condition.
Barely and gameboys and when I see one they cost 60 or more.
Not much luck on the PlayStation side either.

As for Sega. I never see anything at fleamarkets and online consoles go from 50 to 70 depending on what games come with it.

So I just play on my modded Wii and I use a chiped psx respectively or my psp or vita if I need portability.

Goddamn look at all those great Game Boy games. I've NEVER seen a stash that good being offered at game exchanges. Usually if anyone has GB games at all it's perhaps a dozen titles.

Since consol.at and most of the other videogame related massage boards are dead nowadays, willlhaben is your best bet. You could also scout secondhand onlineshops such as Rebuy and Medimops for older stuff. Also, local flea markets around the bigger cities.

Don't just buy stuff because it's retro. A collection of a few carefully selected games, boxed and in great condition is way more interesting than amassing heaps of literal trash.

No, you didnt, American's like myself(who laughed at your quoted post) have a funny sense of humor. The joke is that you posted a serious question from a relatively small European county in the hopes that you could find help, but the majority of posters are from big countries and the idea that little country asks big countries for specific help is inherently funny. I'd be the same if you were from Guam or Luxemburg.
