The vast majority of game compensate for the difference. Some games have the music run slow but the game runs fine. Only a small handful (like Sonic 1...) actually run too slow. A decent CRT TV can eliminate the borders you get, too.

Gaming on PAL is not as bad as the Americans will have you beleive.
