imo the part about "pre-2000 systems" should just be rewritten to pre-2000 games. as it currently stands it opens too many exploitable loopholes.
also, allowing dreamcast discussion was a mistake.

But then we couldn't talk about many fifth gen games such as Perfect Dark.

It's pretty clear the janitors did not have IBM clones in the 90s.

These meta threads add more clutter than there would be if the mods would just chill a bit and let the grown-ass adults with mortgages and families discuss their childhood games on a board that isn't /v/

Yes and that's my point, 4chan is filled with retards completely disconnected with the real world. I played some cs 1.6 the other day and a friend of mine told me "Hey didn't know you were into retro gaming". It took me a while to realize that he was right, just look at the game objectively, it's clearly from an era from the past, long gone.

>> No.5538310

I used to dislike the jannies. Then I realized how they keep out all that 6th gen or borderline 6th gen garbage. Go fuck yourself.

This board honestly is pretty fucking stale and repetitive once you've discussed everything about vidya from 1975 to 2000. Adding 6th gen discussion would at least allow some new topics.

Just go to Atechan's /vr/ then, they allow discussion for all games released before the Xbox 360.

Good point. I've noticed the quality of /vr/ is gradually getting worse and people are posting more and more stale b8 threads. I guess once you've run out of topics to discuss, people get bored and start shitposting.

>> No.5538329

>>5538250
It should literally just be games older than a certain number of years. PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube should be /vr/ by now along with PC gaming from that time period. It would refresh /vr/ tremendously and I bet all kinds of new and fun discussions would develop.

I think it's mostly because the rules now exclude the childhood games of people around 30 years old, so an increasing proportion of users are maladjusted kids desperately trying to fill a void buying baubles with their first paychecks.

Or they're amping up the shitposting to retaliate because they can't get their way, which is posting about non-retro sixth gen garbage here.

No, allowing 6th gen would suck dick. For 6-8 gen, there's another forum at /v/ for you. For the other 5 gens, there's here. For v2k, there's a failed /vg/ thread because 6th gen is complete shit and all the fans of it are too.

Many popular fifth gen games were published in 2003. I posted a thread about 2003 game I played on my 90s PC and it was deleted. It seems the management have a huge blind spot.

Yep, I agree. The cutoff should be 6th gen and the GBA at least.

The GBA really was the last oldskool ROM cartridge-based game system. The DS switched to using Flash ROMs instead of mask ROMs and the game data is loaded into RAM in the console, it doesn't map directly into the CPU address space.

>> No.5538372

there should be a sticky'd cyclical sixth gen containment general on /vr/ but all other sixth gen threads get deleted

it would keep the board from getting flooded with sixth gen shit but also stop the kiddies from shitposting /vr/ because their childhood is banned
