It seems like Rareware would have been competent enough.. So why did they fuck up the physics so badly on this port? It feels like the gravity is twice as strong than the snes versions, and heck even the earlier gameboy games. So did they do it on purpose or something?

>DK transforms into animals instead of rides them like the original game
>It's now nigh-impossible to clear stages with Expresso because she can't jump on enemies and you can't dismount to clear the road ahead

>Expresso because she can't jump on enemies
are you sure of that? Or is the collision detection just fucked making it really hard to do?

Nope, Expresso literally can't. It was like that in the original game, as well.

controversial opinion I liked DK land 1 a lot

As much as I dislike DK Land for its visuals (especially on a Gameboy) it still had some neat tunes and level design, like that level where the kong letters turn into various platforms. It was also neat that they created new enemies for it that didn't show up before in DKC.

The limited camera, loose controls and confusing graphics however ruin all the fun I could possibly have with it. That being said, DKC on the Gameboy was still a much bigger letdown IMO. Rare seriously didn't give a damn anymore even back in 2000.

okay but meanwhile mario land 1 comes out HOW many years after smb1? And no one gives it shit at all.

DKC for the GameBoy Color is the thinking man's version of Donkey Kong Country.

I love this port. It's even better than the donkey kong land games

>> No.5531413

such a good port, especially for the gbc. you need to finish the game 3 times to get 100% which added a heap of replay value

It's my favorite DK game.
