At this point this company can go fuck itself, I am not against an IP protecting it's work, and although I don't want rom sites to die out completely the fact that they are killing off the virutal console so they can upload games to their shitty cloud service on the switch is infuriating, or making limited copies of a "classic" console that for literally no reason they refuse to make more of despite they're being a high demand for it. Literally deleting every version for example, of super smash bros melee thus making it incredibly hard to come by and faggoty reseller cocksucker assholes sell it for 60-70$ when Nintendo could easily just release it for 10-20$ and i'd gladly pay for it, hell i'd pay 60$ for melee if it had built in online play. I wish Nintendo would just fuck off with deleting warez sites because it's obvious all their new games are shit or mediocre so they're trying to capatalize off of old shit and taking their fucking time to release titles from the N64/gamecube era. Also emulators in general have way better and more diverse options to play around with than the Nintendo VC ever has.

TL;DR Nintendo deserves to have their games pirated because they're assholes and don't care about preserving classics and instead trying to monopolize the fuck out of the "retro" gaming market and having absolute control over what gets released and what features it will have.

If we've already lost that fight, then nobody is going to o change it. When they control the internet to this degree, I'm concerned even more so about other things than just where I'm getting my GB games.
If it's actually a problem, the best you can do is hoard, which many already do.
Flash games are an excellent example to this, and what will really happen is that the decent stuff has a much higher likelihood to be kept.
Do I really need the entire NES library? Am I going to play all of those games, or just the best?

There's still so many rom sites out there with faster DL speeds than Emuparadass ever had. I refuse to post any out of paranoia except coolrom, which is my last resort usually.

>>5523741
I collected the ROMs I wanted years ago to have a play at them, but this was before terabyte storage levels were a normal for PCs and even hard drives. At some point the publisher must realize a secondhand market with skyhigh prices means there is a ripe opportunity for putting out cheap retro games. If they are going to be pretty over the prices, then a market will develop for pirating.

>> No.5523759

Isn't there a trick to download directly from emuparadise anyways, just changing something in the url or installing a browser extension?

I mean that "battle" is far from over, the only way they can do anything about it is if they have a system that detects ROM files as malware so that they get "accidentally" deleted by antimalware programs. Even then, quite a few people store hard drives full of these. There's also torrent sites and such. I think people just saw the emuparadise thing and jumped the gun too quickly, decided by themselves "there's no solution" and that's it.

>> No.5523762

>>5523626
I'm pretty sure any game that you want can be downloaded.

Have you checked pirate bay?
Have you checked archive.org?
There's plenty more options aside from those.

Buy the game, dump it yourself, then sell it for the same price you bought it for. Get creative. IP laws are inherently unenforceable.

Yeah. I found some really nice complete rom collections for various game systems earlier this year. Good stuff. Not posting them here either for the same reasons, obviously.

>> No.5523790

The Information Hotspots that have the Roms are plentyfull and will never die out, so many people have these files and they won't just vanish just because they burnt the "connection" bridges. New ways of sharing will just pop up, you can't keep Information from being distributed. It is like a living organism, as long as there is demand in some form, Evolution will find a way. This is not explicit to roms, anything digital with interest has this attribute.

I do resent them for ruining Virtual Console, I gladly paid $5 for Wario Land 2, I had a wonderful time, but then A), they tell me that I need to buy another 3DS to run SNES games, and I fucking know that's bullshit because the one I have has all the buttons and more than enough hardware power to run the games, and then B), they completely omit VC from the Switch, replacing it with a shitass subscription service where they let you play a limited collection of NES games, so go fuck yourselves for that.

>>5523647
It doesn't in practice, but Nintendo spergs out about it and therefore people should do it out of spite.

>>5523790
True, but I still resent Nintendo for offering something decent, then pulling out the rug underneath my feet and telling me to go fuck myself, and that I should settle for paying more for an inferior product.
No, you faggots, make me a better offer or I'll seek out alternatives.

Yeah I know what you mean, it's the reason I never bought into the Nintendo Digital collecting. I got smb3 for nes when it came out new, then got allstars for snes. Then years lauter got it for the wii vc store. Then you would have to pay again to Upgrade it to the wiiu store. And now for the switch they want you to pay for it again... That is at least 150-200 bucks for a 30 year old game, more if you bought into the nes classic. They can fuck themselves with their shady methods of reselling the same crap and you not even owning it at some point. But they won't stop since people (especially really young players and old nostalgia players) keep chugging up money.

The internet is being turned into interactive cable TV. Soon every website will be owned by a mega corp. People already ditched forums for twitter, personal websites for facebook and so on. They want to own all of the internet so they can control what's posted and ban whomever they want. The world West days have been gone for a long time but recently they've really put the screws on. Just wait what'll come once the EU Copyright Directive kicks in. Small sites will vanish, hosting companies will die, etc.

Yes, how dare they switch to an unlimited access system like Netflix as opposed to reselling the same old games to their same customers every time they buy another game console or handheld.

>> No.5524056

>>5524046
I don't see anything "falling apart". More rom sites will pop up sooner or later. Remember megaupload? As for corporations buying sites like facebook or twitter or whatever, good. Can't stand "social media". It's literally easier to pirate a game, new or old, than buy it legally. They only have themselves to blame.

>> No.5524262

I get that Nintendo would want to get rid of rom sites, I get it.. but I still think it was a dick move when they C&D'd that C64 port.

It's not falling apart, there are literally millions of places you can get your ROMs off, corporations just kill popular sources, but they are never going after small websites and alternative sources like torrents, it would be just a waste of time and resources.

It's not about buttons or hardware, but merely the sheer screen size. A regular 3DS screen just isn't high enough to display the 224 pixel height of an SNES game. The New 3DS XL's large screen is necessary.

>> No.5524313

Popular websites like emuparadise don't equate to "The Internet".Those websites might have been convenient, but what the internet is at a core level is the ability for two computers anywhere in the world to connect to each other and exchange data. There is no way to prevent that fundamental capability without shutting down the entire internet. All the shit that governments and corporations do to try and control the internet is to put a layer of protection over the top, which can sort of get in the way a bit, but they can never break the ability for two computers anywhere in the world to share data and as long as that capability exists there will be ROMs.
