The only issues I have with it is the boss rush structure of all the genesis konami arcade games, I personally prefer more levels with bosses more spread out. Some of the sound effects sound weird as well but the actual music sounds fantastic

Those are my only complaints about bloodlines. By more "arcadey" are you referring to the fact the game has limited continues?

The pace of the gameplay felt faster and less deliberate than something like 3 or Dracula X. Plus the limited continues. And atmosphere-wise it felt less eerie and gothic than most CV games. Level 4 for example seems unusual for a CV game.

the only smash i play is melee and 64 so i wouldn't know. i played 4 for a bit but it was kinda trash so i didn't go for a switch just for ult and a mario game. I'm aware frank's monster is in the other CVs but in bloodlines it feels truly like a cage match where you have to be careful about your pokes. his apperance and overall fight/context you're in leading up to him is phenomenal and it owns any other appearance he has in CV including IV and SotN easily. hell, the one in SotN was just some heroin roid-rage addict with a hammer.

Been playing this for the first time lately. Haven't beaten it yet because limited continues (although I guess I could just use passwords instead of playing through the whole game again). It's pretty good, if it weren't for the limited continues this game would be a cakewalk. Music is great and I see there's a bunch of songs that get reused in later games but I'm unable to remember which ones so I'm left thinking "Oh yeah, this is from some other game".
I hate John's ability to swing off ceilings because it's not a very good attack but it looks so cool that I swing everywhere like a Spider-Man and end up dying like a retard.
