So, as far as emulation goes-
I've got an i5 and like 16g ram, I can Force it to throttle at 98-100% and much faster, even though left to its own devices it holds at 60%. There's a frame skip or two on VBA-M, but for the most part it's okay, I can get around the speed.

The issue I run into is Sprite layers- either the info bar is onscreen, or Shantae/enemies/pickups are. Never both at once. I've tried all 4? video plugins included, tweaking with settings, etc- anyone have a pre-setup config they'd like to share? I'm puzzling over this, and while I do like a good puzzle, I'd really rather play the game.

Speaking of WayForward, anyone here play Sigma Star Saga on the GBA? I heard it was a hybrid schmup/RPG/Adventure type game but I never got to try it? Was it any good? Would you recommend to someone who loved the fuck out of The Guardian Legend?

I played it through. The shmup part was forgettable - you had 4-5 random levels per world, and random battles involved you warping onto them. They played until you shot down x enemies. It got EXTREMELY repetitive as you can guess, but even worse, the entire shmup part was a VERY basic shooting game. You could collect different weaponry in the adventure field but that was it. Also, you piloted 3-4 different ships which were randomly chosen, and some of them were just so junk that you barely had a fighting chance.

I recall most bosses were also fought in the shmup parts, and unless you had decent weapons/levels, they were near impossible.

The storyline was okay-ish.

Mediocre title all in all. Matt Bozons art is practically the only reason why anyone would care about the game, because it has nothing else special going on for it.

What's with the big appeal of this?
It looks nice to the eye and has its charms, but other than that it feels more or less like your typical GBC platformer.
And I'm not saying that out of spite, I'm genuinely curious.
