I want to collect the screensavers of VR.

What's your choice?

>> No.5486970

I turn off the screen or close the laptop. Why would you want to have a ticking timebomb set to get in the way while you watch videos? And if you're going to be away from it for more than 20 minutes why is the screen still on? You're just wasting it away when you don't have to.

My display turns off by itself after 5 minutes of inactivity.

Wonder why this wasn't available on CRT's.

CRT's can go into stand-by after a set time no problem
it's a system setting independent of the display technology

The original Star Trek module for After Dark that had such absurd levels of configuration it was practically a collection of games.

CRT's were far too primitive for that, and operating systems back then were would never be able to handle the advanced processing power required for such a massively innovative feature. we're lucky we're living in 2019 where extremely mindblowingly advanced technologies such as "sleep mode" are finally being invented

I turn my PC off if I'm gunna be away from it for more than 20min.
Leaving it on overnight is how you burn out your PSU and CPU earlier.
Never understood MMOfags who stay logged in 24/7.

I mean, "turn off screen after 20min of the mouse not moving" isn't exactly complicated or processor-intensive programming. It's like 2 lines of code.

It's just that in the CRT/Windows 95/98 days shit like Fishtank Screensavers were super popular. No-one even considered wanting the screen to automatically turn off and back then probably would've considered it an annoyance.

Would be nice if 3D Maze worked properly on Windows 10. Would also be nice if a more modern version existed that allows for higher resolutions.

Well for a while I had the Windows XP waving flag screensaver, but right now I think my laptop is just set to turn the screen off after 10 minutes of inactivity.

I don't even know how to change the screensaver on Windows 10. They keep moving the screensaver menu options every time they release a new update, and I'm getting too old to keep up with this shit XD

If anyone can find "Kazin Dog Pee" screensaver I would be eternally grateful. It's not "bad dog" one but a screen saver where a little pixelated dog walks all over your background and lifts his leg to pee every once in a while. Yeah, it was dumb, but it kept teenage me pretty entertained. It existed in about 1994-1998.

It was a screensaver package for 68k Mac OS. Had a hopalong fractal generator and a wireframe spider. Unfortunately I can't find the program.

What if you're watching a movie? I'd imagine modern displays just take a snapshot and if nothing at all moves in X minutes, they go into standby. CRT's didn't have those kind of microchips, I'd wager.

I know mine didn't, my early 2000's setup used a Viewsonic E55 and then a SONY G220.
