>le twin snakes is a bad remake
>le mgs1 was not designed with first person aiming in mind
>game is remade with the sole intention of remaking mgs1 with first person aiming like 2 and 3
>game does exactly what it was meant to do
>somehow this is bad
Can someone please explain the autism behind shitting on this remake?

Because they fucked with the cutscenes and turned it into some Western-era John Woo shit.

Fuck i remember playing this game on father's day in the morning, it was full of snow outside with the smell of meat in the air. How fucking comfy.

It's not like MGS 2 and 3 are much better in that respect.

metal gear fans have bizzare double standards.

of all the crazy shit in the series it's pretty silly to be bothered by matrix cutscenes.

They said themselves that they failed. I think it was the game designer that said they had to make Sniper Wolf's corridor 3x longer, or anyone could beat the fight with the pistol. Also the Ocelot fight is 50x easier because of 1st-person aiming. In the original you were supposed to run after him while shooting (if you knew how to run and shoot at the same time, that is), while in the remake you just need to make sure Ocelot isn't behind a pillar.

>game does exactly what it was meant to do
Except when it doesn't.

They didn't change any of the level design so first person aiming makes most of it piss easy.

They also re-recorded a lot of the dialog with worse quality and cut out a lot of the fun lines. Then filledit with even more cut scenes. I can hardly think of a worse remake.

>fp aiming makes every boss easier
>torture scene is easier
>furnace section is easier
>they removed the part of the Ninja boss fight where he shorts out (making it easier)
>removed most of the gun cameras from the game
>can now disable lasers easily
And that's just the gameplay portion.

Nice source on your stupidly bold claim.

That's because they realized they fucked up enough, that the ONLY part where they actually changed was Sniper Wolf's corridor.

About the Ocelot fight. The game was designed with the restrictive controls of the PSX in mind, not with free aiming. The original had those radial controls for aiming (left/right rotates, up/down changes direction), which, together with the small arena, made it so that you had to take care not to shoot Baker by mistake or trip the wires while trying to change position. Free aiming defeats the purpose of that - you can just stay in place and take potshots at Ocelot, and he doesn't even run like in the original - if you stay in the same place, he does too, making it much easier.

It's being able to aim in a way the game wasn't originally and purposefully designed to let you.

Twin Snakes is the equivalent of remaking Super Mario 1 with a cape powerup at the start of each level. It would break the game and here it does.

IIRC, it was an EGM interview, I think. They also said they couldn't implement VR training because the development time was cut down repeatedly. So it stands to reason they couldn't re-balance the whole game around having free aiming.

I remember dying at this part because it's sudden as fuck and he teleports randomly. And the electric discharge takes almost all of your lifebar at once.

Now that I recall, in the original Snake upgraded his health, right? In the remake it already starts at maximum, so this is another thing that makes the remake much easier.

Rebalancing the game to make first person aiming fit would have literally meant re-designing 3/4 of the areas. They put all their time into making extra long cutscenes where you watch Grey Fox ninja around for half an hour.

What I always wondered was whether making it so easy was a fuck up or on purpose because it was being ported to a Nintendo system. I assume fuck up but you have to wonder a little if they wanted it to be more accessible to younger gamers or something. Either way it's a real shame all over.

Yeah you sort of level up after bosses. Your health goes up and you can carry one more ration each time.
