What are some interesting retro handheld ports, licenses, spin-offs and sequels?

The need to capitalize on Street Fighter's popularity was obvious, but I'm still fascinated by the idea that a Game Boy port was made.

I find the port of Alpha 1 on GBC more amusing.

Hell, the GBA got a port of SFA3 that was pretty damn solid overall.

SD Hiryuu no Ken EX (you might have known this as Flying Dragon on the N64) is I-kid-you-not the best entry in the goddamn Hiryuu no Ken series with the most characters and non retarded move inputs. Also check out Super Chinese Fighter EX

GBA makes more sense, you have double the buttons to work with.

There's even a GBA Tekken game, which I haven't played but it looks surprisingly fathful.

Super fun and good game

Fighting games on any Game Boy were always just weird. I don't know if I enjoyed a single one.
There were also the GBC versions of Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2 which were actually good! They managed to cram the world of GTA1 into the GBC tile-for-tile.

Metal Gear: Ghost Babel for the GBC was originally going to be a port/demake of MGS1. In fact, both games play pretty much the same. Someone with a lot of time in their hands should make a romhack for it.
Also, not retro, but GBA had tons of overly ambitious ports, like Driv3r or the Need for Speed series.

handheld SNK ports were generally the best handheld fighting games around.
Fatal Fury and KOF on Game Boy were pretty well done.

I'm emulating this right now and, aside from a few minor things (the town/overworld is a menu) and the spotty translation, it's accurate to the Dreamcast version.
Also, there' the Mega Man arcade games which were only ever ported to the Neo-Geo Pocket Color (aside from the US only Anniversary Collection)

I really like how those sprites look with black shadows. Really stylish.

Alpha 3 on GBA is genuinely amazing.

They crammed every character and stage onto a GBA cart. And it has like 12 different modes too

This port amazes me way more than the snes/MD versions of Street Fighter 2.

The fighting games on NGPC had no right to be as good as they were, Gals Fighters is still fun even with only 11 characters and I don't know of any other handheld fighter that played as smoothly as that game until the PSP came along

Not a port, but Power Quest is a pretty solid fighter. It's always fun to pop it into the super game boy and play some Vs matches.
