Playing LA on Super Gameboy is the ultimate way to play. LA kind of felt like a SNES game anyways, and the controls felt super natural on the Super Gameboy. I will have fond memories of the first time I played it that way for the rest of my life.

I feel the same way about the Super Game Boy version of Wario Land II. Screw the Game Boy Color re-release - saves aren't cross-compatible and have to be deleted if I want/need to play on a different format? Fuck that shit, that's just an unnecessary liability to me. The postrelease colorization isn't that great anyway, being more naturally improved in the Oracle games and Wario Land 3.

Yes, but in the Game Boy Color version, if you have a game save while playing on Game Boy or Super Game Boy, you have to delete your entire sava data to even begin playing on Game Boy Color and vice versa. It's bullshit. Also, there actually are several revisional differences between them, like an enemy that was removed from the Game Boy Color version for no good reason (despite one of the bosses, "Big Kamukamu", obviously being a "big" version of it).

I grew up with the color version and always considered it the way to go but since I've bought a DMG Gameboy copy of it and played it on both my Gameboy Color and Super Gameboy I don't feel it plays much worse on either of them. Besides the occasional framedrop from bashing breakable stuff it still sounds, looks and plays really well and I like the fact that when you play it on a Super Gameboy the background changes with the zone you're playing in (for example when you go from the city to the ghost house). Also now that I played Wario Land III too it makes the colorized version of Wario Land 2 even weirder because of how Wario and some of the bosses are colored in mostly one color while WL3 had a much richer color pallet. Sure, WL3 had more space to for the sprites and it kinda sounds like some people argue about Link's Awakening having 'more soul' in black and white instead of the colored deluxe version and compared it to older black and white movies but that's how I look at Wario Land 2 GBC now.

>> No.5460871

>>5460765
Who knows. Link's Awakening DX didn't have that problem, but they probably had more time to work on it, so I wager rushed development from the few months between the original Super Game Boy version to the release of the Game Boy Color. Even stranger that playing the Game Boy Color version in (Super) Game Boy mode still contains certain nonsensical revisional differences like the aforementioned enemy deletion.

The Super GameBoy 2 is objectively the best way to play original GB (GameBoy) games. You get those awesome in-game borders and other SGB exclusive features.

For GameBoy Color and GameBoy Color-Enhanced games, those are best played on the Nintendo GameCube's GameBoy Player using GBI.

People have circumvented the protection and found that it works flawlessly, save for the save feature which is the fault of Stadium not recognizing the game and not the BIOS.

The only explanation I can think of is that Nintendo did not fully trust kids having Game Boy games in their Nintendo 64 controller pak. Pity because Game Boy are arguably at its height, and I really wanted to play Shantae and Oracles on the big screen back then.

Probably because the data transfer rate was slow on the game pak. In the case of Gold and Silver, Pokemon Stadium 2 has the roms for the game built into it to get around that fact, and verifies your cart through checksum comparison. You know that loading that happens when you boot Pokemon Crystal on PokeStadium 2? That's it loading the entire rom because of an oversight. Basically, it should have had the crystal rom, but they changed the rom for the GBC game and didn't update the PS2 copy to match, so the checksum fails. The experience would not have been great if every game required that kind of slow loading process. And besides, by the late 90s it made more sense to just keep working on the GBA and to work on the game boy player for GC.
