OK so the AI drivers drive on rails, everybody knows that. I saw all kinds of guides/walkthroughs for SMK but one thing was always missing for me: Where are the best spots for dropping traps?Someone had to do the job.

Since I play Special Cup most often, I got maps of it, made my own guide and marked the spots.
I have no life outside of work/GF/gym, that was required.

Fair enough. You know good spots to intercepts those "waypoints"?

Not OP, but I would like to check out how the AI follows waypoints in MK and F-Zero, and how they determined if you had passed a waypoint or not.

I image waypoints have orientations and size, meaning you can define two sides to the waypoint and test if racers are close enough and if they cross from one side to the other.

I can think of two different ways to make AI follow waypoints. Either with a forces, or by interpolating curves through waypoints.

I wonder what was used...

It cheats via a.i.

I wonder if every waypoint varies in other cartridges or if it's all one, for lack of a better word, universal AI railway.

OP here, I think I understand now why there aren't guides like this out there. Guess no one ever bothered to mark points like I did. But unironically, thanks for the waypoint lesson.
