What are some objectively shit retro consoles?

PCFX is a perfect one
>more expensive than the more powerful PSX and Saturn
>no 3D capabilities ensuring it to get sidelined
>few actual 2D games on the system
>much of the library is eroge VNs and FMV chicktoon games
>dies after 2 years, NEC leaves the hardware market

The Philips CD-i. Can't think of a single good game released for that console.

I played a little bit of Geograph Seal and thought it was cool. I also played through Castlevania and thought it was a decent entry in the series. The system had quite a few faithful arcade ports, although these won't be of interest today with the advent of MAME, it would have been cool at the time.

It actually lasted four years, so longer than the Saturn did in the US.
>>5444597
It wasn't even supposed to play anything more complex than interactive storybooks for very young children, but Philips and Nintendo had that deal and they just couldn't resist.

PSX, no 2d hardware capabilities, 90% of games were shovelware, awful controller, cheap failing hardware.

it actually started before Nintendo, greenbook was capable of games but they did everything but advertise it as a games platform. Despite this games that did exist outsold everything else, so they had to make some rebranding choices.

Nah man, 3DO was pretty impressive for it's time and had some great arcade ports and games. Don't believe the eCeleb queers. Business model and price killed it.

N64, pretty much nogaems outside of first party and like two other developers, miles behind the FMV curve in a multimedia age, out dated cartridge system, weak followups to beloved SNES classics.

Everything Nintendo put out after gen4 was shit. Shit!

>> No.5448261

This is an obvious shitpost, but the N64 was was objectively trash. It had a few good games, but even those were hamstrung by the outdated tech being used.

Neither did the Saturn for that matter, dumb fuck. It just had less VRAM.

Imagine being a logical person with some mid level or even fully shit-kicker level position at an electronics company when everyone was trying to get in on the console market in the late 90s or so, and knowing all this effort is being wasted and there's no hope in hell of the product even making the tiniest dent in the market with the shit no name proprieties and uncompetitive technology, but nobody will listen or you know better than to talk negatively about the big project

Seems like you could either be depressed as hell or just laugh and keep cashing your paycheck

What games do you consider decent? I have a Jag and 4 games. The best is obviously Tempest 2000. Pinball fantasies is good. AvP would have been cool at the time but is a bit lackluster now. I also have Syndicate, which as a Syndicate fan, was disappointing.

Virtual Boy. They had finished games for it and didn't release them, to rub salt on the wound for anyone who actually bought the thing. Would have loved to see what Dragon Hopper looked like.

Sony apparently liked it enough to use it as a basis for the prototype of the PS3 controller. If you're the type of person to get mad and toss the controller across the room then it seems like it would be really handy.
