Wish granted, but it's $599 (yeah I know the joke isn't retro but it's the best I could come up with)

I wish the Dreamcast's controller was the Duke but with VMUs instead of a giant logo

Wish granted, but it uses proprietary rechargeable batteries which aren't made anymore and are starting to die out en masse.

I wish N64 controller joysticks never wore done.

Done. Your console CAN run perfect ports of arcade games.
But the only arcade game that actually got ported is Hangman.

>I wish the Dreamcast's controller was the Duke but with VMUs instead of a giant logo
Funny story, the Xbox team was consciously aping the Dreamcast and planned on having a VMU until they realized there was no point
Bill Gates himself tried to bring Sega on board with making the Xbox backwards compatible with the Dreamcast
Those guys really thought they were making the spiritual successor to Sega consoles

The xbox does have some good titles. I would be happy with Sega and Microsoft teaming up. Sega of America was way ahead of the Japanese anyhow. I wish Sega of Japan was shut down and Microsoft just contracted out Japanese developers. The westerners treat developers better than the Japanese. Fucking kojima seems to have an infinite cash supply right now and is having the time of his life living like a rockstar.

>spiritual successor to Sega consoles
Though not a successor to sega, in many ways it is a continuation of the dreamcast. There are so many "improvements" that if someone didn't know better they would think it is a successor. The duke is very similar to the DC controller. I have a very strong suspicion that much of the designs and internal design ideas transfered from sega to microsoft after it was realized that sega had no hope as a hardware maker in the future.

>>5438620
>planned on having a VMU
The center jewel in the Duke at one point was going to be a small screen as well. Most likely this design was after the VMU, but before the final product.

Didn't Nintend of America impose a bunch of Nazi-tier rules on devs in the NES days that NOJ didn't have?

That was back in the 1980s. Nowadays America has the best wages and job opportunities in the world. The only place I see dethroning America is European nations. CDPR has a good thing going for them in Poland with all the tax benefits and government kickbacks. Japanese people are being worked to death.

Now the N64 controllers don't have a joystic. Instead they have 4 c-buttons more.

The Xbox had a lot of those weird, quirky exclusives in an attempt to find a niche market but constantly failing, until Halo stuck.

>>5438671
Microsoft should've also combined the Xbox and Windows market into one; the Japanese weren't particularly fond of the Xbox, but they would be more willing to play Halo on Windows. With this Xbox and Windows synergy, Microsoft could've also partnered with Falcom, one of Japan's prominent PC developers, and would effectively give their games perfect console versions and western releases. I imagine it would have accelerated the Japanese support on PC, which would've helped with MS' initial goals of creating DirectX; dethroning Japanese consoles.
