I watched some videos

The clothing and overall appearance of the characters is very bombastic, ulike the other titles.

The way of doing combat is a nice but kind of a failed experiment, or at least one that needs tweaking.

They also changed the way of presenting the story for a fire emblem presentation way of telling the story (as in, long interactions separated from wathever is currently happening, like a vn). Like for example, in the shining force 3 there was descion making and dialog in the middle of a combat.

Also doesn't seem like it does the background way of story telling, like in early adventure time, to explain the roles of the races in the world (an example, in the first game if you go to the castle, you can go to a small part of the field where only the centaurs are training and running around, giving the impression the military gives it roles depending of the race and so on. Giving hints on how things roll in the world)

I don't know about the story though, but it was grounded with crazy elements, like alternative history but with wizards (like the political aspects of the star wars precuels), instead of "crazy super sayan wizard is becoming super powerful and is going to destroy the world unless we take out hands togheter and say we believe in Santa Claus" and is more maquiavelian, is more "the mage used the magic for the king to do Y so the kingdom lost its trust and Z had a chance of W to happen"

I'm close to finishing this game and my god this shit is so overrated: turns take forever; most maps are huge and take ages to reach the enemies; rng is crazy, there is possibility of evading an attack, doubling attacking or even making a crit without any reason/stat behind it; item management is tedious; the plot could be made by a 10 year old

The main thing that keeps me going is my autism for finishing games, honestly

Playing through SFCD Book 1 right now.
Getting to level 20 until promotion was slightly harder compared to SF1, as I was running out of space keeping all those new weapons, so I powerleveled 1-3 levels at the last battle of chapter 3.

Gong and Sheela aren't.
Sarah and Karna are broken because of their spells, not stats.
Sig is like 10 or 11 points of attack lower despite being a level higher.
The only character that has higher attack is Ruce, but it's by 1, despite being 4 levels higher and his axe adds 8 points of attack more than Iron Claw.

Gong is way below other people without weapon in attack around the same level, like Zylo, Bleu and Adam (who you still don't wanna use because of all the grind). I think, I even saw Domingo hitting harder than Gong.
As for Sheela, pre-promoted characters suck in general, maybe except for Zynk, Claude and the wizard, but even those don't bring anything new to the team, so they are kinda pointless. Sheela's only saving grace is that it's relatively easy to level her and that Master Monks in SF2 are fucking sexy.
