Who else would he be looking for? Not Zelda, not Saria.

This is headcanon. It's never explicitly stated, you just see Navi fly away. Link doesn't even nod or anything.

>>5426310
In addition to the text quoted by >>5426314, they play the sound effect of Navi flying away. It's clear he's looking for her.

Link gets lost in the forest and becomes a stalfos. That theory about mm being Link dealing with his own death is true but he becomes a stalfos in hyrule, aka the heros shade. and yes he was looking for navi

Maybe after he beat Ganon the timeline reverted and he lost the hookshot and that was what he really couldn't live without. The rest of the journey is just the job he had to do to get that sweet baby back.

Not everything is some master plan of inter-woven storytelling. We know that MM is a direct continuation from OoT, because it literally tells you withing the first two mins of the game. The rest is also similar because it was just cheap to reuse assets. There is no greater intent for a overarching storyline. Most of the games should be considered their own contained storylines.

This is probable. I know if I had the Zelda hookshot IRL for a while, zipping around town and shit, I'd go mad if I had to live without it.

We know the Link in Oot and mm is the hero shade in tp and we know that people who get lost in the forest become stalfos. This is all clearly intended as shown in game. I'm not saying they planned it from the start but it's how they worked it out.

At first I was like yeah that makes sense why not take your time and experience it.

Then I was all why would anyone waste a lot of their time attempting to figure something out beyond themselves.

Finally I reached a conclusion that time and money is immensely subjective and one person going for the guide is in fact another person's trying and failing until success.

what's the best/worse temple?

>> No.5429282

>>5429268
Snowfall or Snowhead is the worst. I personally disliked the rising and lowing platform, a psudo water temple of Ocarina of time's fame.

I really appretiated stonetower for the flipping, sorta ironic yeah, but I actually liked the water temple the best in Majora's mask.

Reversing the flow was a simple way to change the dungeon, and it wasn't too taxing mentally. I really enjoyed the jaws like motif of the boss and Zora mask in my opinion was under utilized. You have to get your fill with the dungeon and the pirates beforehand.

If it's your first romp through the dungeon it's honestly not so bad. I think it's just the replaythroughs that got to me.

Like one thing about it is the stuff immediately after the dungeon relies on you beating it whenever you reset time.

You have whatever time you allow yourself after beating the temple in order to obtain the final sword upgrade.

That's a good measure for every dungeon, way less stressful than not using the inverted song of time. That sword upgrade makes the rest of the game quite a bit easier to manage.

Link thought he was okay with Navi leaving but then he realized he wasn't.

He can't let go of people he's lost. The lore of Majora's Mask reflects this, there's a lot of stories about people who are unwilling to let go of the past.

Majora's Mask is mainly about the first stage of grief: acceptance

Majora's Mask is one of the few games where you actually, legitimately feel like you are saving the world. Technically speaking you ARE their only hope. It is literally their programed destiny to perish if you cannot change fate

I always thought it was the trippiest thing to see it from their perspective. If you in fact save them and their world it would appear to them that you're coming and going really really quickly do to the times you rewind and waltz through over and over, they'd be all whoa didn't you just head that way, how'd you get over there- whoa what?! there'd be like a bajillion of you left right up down and finally the ending plays out and everyone sees the giants stop the moon and finally it evaporating.

Most people just think they abandon a whole bunch of different worlds and countless people to die over and over but to actually grasp what the ending is saying, all your efforts and all the happy endings you achieved for everyone plays out in one synchronicity, that's a magical feeling.

not even majora's mask, but I always thought oracle of seasons is the only other LoZ to rival MM in atmosphere

the changing seasons gimmick really gave that game a unique atmosphere, the time gimmick in the other one was already old-hat despite having the titty villain

Ages just seems to drag on in a way Seasons doesn't. I also prefer the final boss, I've yet to beat Ages, making it to the end and just mehing out.

I think Link's Awakening rivals MM in terms of story and atmosphere and I'm glad it's being remade. I just sorta thought it'd be better reimagined in 3d but hey it wouldn't be the same game afterall...
