Why would the boomers realize this? Most players engaged with old doom in the exact same way they engage with new doom, that is on a very superifical level. The devs' job was simply to understand which superficial aspects doom's known for and capitalize on them, it was never about truly capturing its core gameplay. That said it's actually a solid game on its own, but it has more in common with MGR than it does old school FPS. No idea what you mean by childish difficulty, nightmare arcade mode and ultra-nightmare are harder than the original games.

Fair enough, that's the kind of response I wanted. I don't exactly agree with you but I do see your point from an objective point of view... Regarding difficulty on the other hand, I don't know. I had way more problems with the old ones, probably because you can only heal yourself with limited resources of medkits and not by uninterruptedly grabbing demons.
