Whats the best way to sell a CRT TV? I got a really great one that works amazing and has the remote at a church sale for about 5 bucks. I know retro gamers buy these things and i was wondering if any of you have ever sold one of these before. Pic related is not my TV just something i found off of google.

Craigslist first. Ebay last. Anything locally in between. Knowing & listing the model number, as well as a front & back photo as well as the sticker showing the date of manufacture help.

$20-40 is the maximum amount you could expect unless it is a highly sought after model, and less if it is lacking in hookups.

What model is it? I am curious now to see if /vr/ can give you more recommendations. There are honestly some CRT sets that are worthless due to their connections.

If you only knew how OCD I can get about a used TV you may understand. Composite connections are standard. For USA, having S-video is nearly required, and Component video is a real bonus. Having all 3 connections is a great combination & the value would be higher if it did have all 3.

People pay for CRT TV's? I'm looking at 50+ in the free section of craigslist. Some offering to pay money to have people take them away.

I am not the OP, but if you read the thread, he is trying to get information about it.

However, I do agree that it is a low end model. OP, you would be lucky to get $20 for it. It never hurts to list it locally as a "Retro Game TV", but you may have trouble asking for money in exchange for it. It is a low end composite only television.

Yeah, PVM or BVM. Not the generic Sanyo that OP posted.

>> No.5421558

No one gonna pay nothing for that. You’re appealing to a very niche market and people who will pay for one are probably only looking for the top tier CRT’s and even then I doubt they go for that much.

Your average person wouldn’t pay a penny for that TV when LCD flat screens are going for nothing

Not just PVM/BVM. Something to consider is that some Tubes used in consumer sets are the same tubes in arcade cabs. The fuck of it all in the USA is that we don't have RGB connections, and need to make them. I have been watching my local market for a specific Zenith 27". No, its not the highest quality professional grade tube, but it has a tube that would work great in an Arcade cab. I have a 25" model, and it does use a wells gardner tube, and from what little information is out there, I suspect the 27" zenith uses the larger wells gardner tube. I would certainly pay for the right tv IF it was available locally.

You might get $20 on a local classifieds site if it's a really good TV. Say with a virtual flat-screen and s-video.

Sony Wega is a safe bet since they have component input. Getting SCART is as simple as buying a converter. I paid $20 for my Wega and it's great. But yeah if it's low or even mid tier RCA or whatever then nobody is gonna want it.

Honestly those are the most worthless TV's anymore. Their only advantage was that they were a huge screen for cheap.

A bit over the top but he's not wrong. This thread sounds like a joke, picking up a CRT for about $5 and asking how does he flip it. It has to be a joke. It would be dumb enough if it was some kid picking up a game he thought was worth something, CRTs are tough to take around.

You misunderstand. I picked that thing up when i was 15. I never viewed it as an investment or anything just to play my classic games on with because my flat screen didn't work well with it. It was kinda just a phase as i don't play any other game than cod anymore so its just been collecting dust for about 2 years now. I've seen them online for high prices and i just was wondering what i could get for mine/what was the best way to sell it. You're like that guy who said i was in here bragging about it.

Then I don't know why you didn't mention that in your picture, you told how you got it so it sounded recent.

Just keep it, you'll very likely go back to retro at some point and need it. I've gone phases of playing no game at all.

Naw. Its taking up a lot of space and i'm gonna sell my ps1 and NES and games for cash. If i really really wanna play retro i'll just emulate it like a pleb. + I don't think i'd have a lot of space for it since i'm moving into a studio apartment by eoy

>Getting SCART is as simple as buying a converter.
For a majority of US sets, the difference between even S-video and RGB is going to be negligible at best. Component vs RGB even on the best sets is so similar, that it ends up being a high cost effort for diminishing returns. Will I end up RGB modding my Zenith? Yes. That is the main reason I got it. I doubt the difference in quality is going to be a major impact in image quality. I am doing it not for the output, but for the input.

I also have a samsung 20" 15khz set that has component, and it might as well be a computer monitor. I don't know what they did with their CRTs, but it is an amazing tube, and I wouldn't change a thing about it.

>>5422251
>Its taking up a lot of space and i'm gonna sell my ps1 and NES and games for cash.
You most likely won't get any cash offers for it. People looking for CRT tvs usually avoid Daewoo sets. However, if I were you, I would include it with the sale of your PS1 or NES....probably the NES. Force someone to take it so you don't have to deal with the headache of disposal.

He used to play classic games on it, though based on the thread it's quite likely he's still in the ballpark of that.
