There's at least 2-3 "eras" of DOS gaming, but the vast majority of the time it means 1991-95 stuff with VGA+Soundblaster.

Never heard of it.

But I did play ZZT and other circled games when they were new. Most of them were played at school.

b-but QBASIC isn't a game.

Megazeux was like ZZT 2.0. It was /mostly/ an upgrade, but a lot of trash existed there too. Mostly any well-known creator that did great stuff with ZZT went on to make even more amazing stuff in Megazeux. They existed together and I loved and made stuff for both

Networked Megazeux? That's pretty cool. ZZT would be better.

the problem with these pictures is that the autists who have the free time to make them always have godawful taste. because they have an inflated opinion of themselves, which is of course what made them make that pic in the first place

The point is that most of these games aren't "good stuff". It's just some autist's hot take. It's like taking general music advice from /mu/.

>> No.5406660

>>5406592
Most of those are either critically acclaimed or cult status games that show up on the "best 100 user voted games" section of just about any abandonware site that has one. It's more of a basic bitch list that you could find just about anywhere and not "some autist's hot take"

I remember playing a DOS game as a kid and can't remember the title. It was very Leisure Suit Larry-ish. There's a bit with mud wrestling, you're also in a beachside city, there's also a bit where you can look into womens changing room via a security camera. Anyone know?
To stay on topic It Came From The Desert was a cool game

That sounds like one of the Leisure Suit Larry games. Are you certain it wasn't one of them?

Possibly if it was really old it could be Softcore Adventures?

I am a huge proponent of the Quest for Glory series, you don't get better raw quality from Sierra. I like Space Quest and LSL but QfG has always had a place in my heart.

Wish I had the time to hero'd from 1 to 5.
When I was a kid I started with 3 so I couldn't enjoy the import feature much.
I loved when I imported magic points that allowed me to cast useless spells like float in my same spot.
