Am I the only one who thinks this game is not that bad? I mean it was pretty innovative for a licensed game; a survival (sorta horror) platform with dinosaurs. It's kind of a 2D Resident Evil 2 (and specifically RE2 because of the Raptors, which are extremely rare, but as terrifying as Mr.X); you have to be careful on how you use your items and ammo, be efficient and take risks... I mean, this game has some huge problems, but it ain't exactly that bad

>Not exactly, the Amiga version is the same as the SNES version, just a tad more polished.

Those versions of Jurassic Park were developed by Ocean. Ocean developed Jurassic Park games for the NES, GameBoy, SNES, Amiga and DOS. The Amiga and DOS versions are basically the same game. The Game Boy and NES versions are similar to each other too. The Super Nintendo version is based on the 8bit Nintendo games, but changes around the level design and adds FPS as well.

SNES
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWePCTDfsFs

NES
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8UJQB-bNaU

GameBoy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7zyay1yfgU

All three are surprising good for their respective platforms. Though they can be a bit of a choir without being able to save. To be honest, I liked the NES game more than the SNES game.

The Sega Genesis games were made by BlueSkySoftware, who are best known for the World Series Baseball games on the Genesis, as well as Vectorman 1 and 2. I agree that the first one is great and does have an interesting survival horror aspect to it.

I used to like the SNES version as a kid, but I never got past the first "mission". I thought the game would have so much more to offer if only I could figure out where to go. But it doesn't, what you see in the first half hour is what you get until the end. It's more like Sabre Wulf than Zelda.

The Genesis version of Lost World is my favorite JP game but hardly anybody played it because it's a '97 release, so most gamers had already moved on to N64/PSX.

Most of it is top-down like the SNES game but you can drive vehicles and there's a password save system. Level design is basically a series of hub levels, each hub having several "exits" that take you to a mission. Once you beat all of the missions in a hub, you play a 3D perspective level that changes every time but could generally be compared to Space Harrier meets Road Rash; you're always moving forward and just have to worry about dodging obstacles/attacks while shooting stuff.

Pic related is the first special level.

It's alright, i guess. Never really beat the game with Grant and don't know what happened to our cart. Raptor is missing 2 missions making a one level feel disconnected from the next (but then the same can be said about said level in Grant's mission). Strange how the manual actually gives you a password to skip most of Grant's missions straight to the Volcano level.

I kinda liked the Game gear Jurassic Park game. This one is an original title and was made by Sega of Japan. The game itself plays like Shinobi with Dinosaurs, but there are also driving/ shooting sections too. I guess you control an employee of Jurassic Park, but he is dressed like a Ninja for whatever reason. The only issue is that it was rather short.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39DPFa-djqU

This game was also ported to the Sega Master System as well for European regions, the UK and Brazil. It is mostly the same game with a bigger screen resolution and a worse colour pallet. But they changed the main character to look like the Grant sprite from the Genesis games.

I actually just played the Master System version for the first time last night. I beat all the levels but got a bad ending about the Park still not being ready to open because I didn't capture the T-Rex.

I did some research and figured out that I'm supposed to collect all of the dino tokens that some enemies drop, that's how you unlock the final stage. I don't know where all of those are and afaik there's no way to know if you missed any and on what level, so I'm inclined to say fuck trying to unlock the T-Rex level and FUCK THIS GAME!

I do like the gameplay though, pity the devs made the end so hard to unlock. Probably just to pad out the game.

once you know what to do where, it's fun to breeze through. once I could beat it, I would do so regularly.

The Chaos Continues is a weird one, because it's not based on any movies. The Lost World was released in 1997, and this was released in 1995/ Ocean basically made their own sequel to the SNES game. I do like the "animated" intro at the beginning and the heavy use of voice samples. The game is an OK "B-tier" run and gun.

Most of the time though, I actually kinda ignore the cars except for crossing killer weed fields, as it is easy for me to get carried away with speed and drive into a minefield or something.
