>Picross is great.

Minus the bullshit later levels where marking the right spots becomes a trial-and-error routine.

I always thought Picross was cool, but I'm too much of a brainlet to get it.

It's one of those "Difficult to learn, easy to master." kind of games. Mario's Picross is pretty bare bones and not the best way to learn it.

I recommend you get one of the "Picross E" collections by Jupiter for the 3DS. It's got some added features to help you learn, like lines where you can logically fill in a square or X out a blank space will be highlighted in blue. Once picross clicks with you, you're hooked.

I always preferred Wario's Woods over Dr. Mario, it's a crying shame how it got no love at all after the SNES game while Dr. Mario got multiple remakes and 4-player online play

turnabout. ps1, 2d spatial reasoning.
drod is decent too, although i've heard that the non-/vr/ entries in the series are better.

>later levels
>trial-and-error
wouldn't doubt it, but at least that isn't a problem in the first mario gb game. i think one level in the second gb game and six in the snes game require it (although one of those is just because there are two possible solutions in the last four squares).

still, the snes game is great if you're looking for a challenge. it ramps up way past the gb games. getting to 25x20 instead of just 15x15 no doubt helps.

listing the trial-and-error levels for the curious. would love to be proven wrong about these, though.

gb2: wario 10.5 lower-right quadrant
snes: mario special k, wario ultra g, mario ex m (two solutions), wario ex f,m,o

Sutte Hakkun for SNES. It's very cute but makes you feel like an absolute retard because the later levels are impossible.

Mario no Super Picross was excellent, Mario's Picross GB was excellent, but imo Mario's Picross 2 GB just felt "off". Dunno why.

I've not played those puzzles, but if they're properly designed they shouldn't be trial & error. Picross are logic puzzles for a reason,
