dude this game is just waaay too hard
are you just supposed to do the beginner missions for hours until you can buy better armor or something? wtf

Use the cheat code and do a run with the money cheat.

Yes.

Aside from that: If you go into hacking (Which you should as samurai), then the most important thing is to get your evasion up, or else you wont hit shit in matrix combat.

Hacking missions are the only ones worth doing. The pay is so much higher for those than anything else.

>> No.5358843

>>53588062
IIRC, the big pay out in matrix runs is selling stolen docs unrelated to the run itself.

Are you upgrading stats in hotels? Did you pick up a new weapon yet? Hiring other runners?

>> No.5359091

>>5358652

It's supposed to be more of a classic RPG, one that can take forever to finish.
That's just what it is, if you want a more newer quicker experience play the Snes one.

This is definitely a question that doesn't deserve it's own thread.

The game starts out pretty unfair because the game mechanics for SR2e have been more or less ported over into the game in their entirety. In an actual Shadowrun campaign, you wouldn't be started out at this low of a street level at least in terms of your character's skill.

That being said, doing Gunderson runs are still some of the best ways to make karma, if you're taking into account of how fast you're running them. After getting your karma up and increasing your stats, work into doing simple level Matrix runs. You can easily get 500-600 nuyen just from completing the run, and you can get extra files and sell them to Roscoe downtown for potentially thousands more. You'll want a good deck and either have yourself be a great decker, or hire someone for you that can deck really well. Phantom over in the Renraku bar is a good starting decker.

After that you can either move up to harder matrix runs (which will require an even better deck and skilled decker) or you can do Extraction runs, where you're breaking into some of the Big 10 corps and stealing shit. I wouldn't try those for now since they are a bit more complex and you'll need a fully loaded team for success.

Hopefully that should help you out, just don't get discouraged if you're getting wasted early on every 5 min because that's how the streets roll.

Oh, and don't do business with Vigore and Jarl.

Starting out is a bit of a slog, yeah. Love this fucking game though.
Ferry some dweebs and packages around for a bit, buy a better gun and then go blast some ghouls (only for more than 60Y a head). Get a better deck and then do matrix runs, as >>5359326 says.

Sell the unnecessary equipment you start with so you can hire other runners temporarily and sell their equipment to get a push out the door.

It has been a while since I played this but I remember the game getting more difficult as you get better equipment.
Like once you spend a ton upgrading all your programs and gear everything will get harder to make it more or less obsolete.

>> No.5359904

The start is a bit of a slog, so save up to buy a predator pistol for self defense. As said the matrix will yeild the most money period.

>> No.5359908

I love this game, but it is one grindy fucking game. Early game is especially soul crushing. Just use ABACAB to get some starter money, and maybe a few more times for starter Karma. Don't forget to keep some junk programs handy in your deck for tar paper and tar pits, or you'll lose more on replacing the good program that got eaten than you'll take on the entire job.

Beat this game back in the day but it took months on and off. It IS hard, but worth it. Fun as hell.

You can skip all of the grind if you know what you're doing.

What's the difference between this and the SNES one? Which one is better?

>> No.5364419

>>5364410
This is an action game with RPG elements and a very very very long grind to reach the end. The SNES one is an action game with adventure elements. They are two different games. Whichever one you like better you mong.

Nothing, that weird fucker is likely very lonely and well past his mid-life with nothing to show for it. Spends his time on anime boards throwing ambiguous shade at people like he's some fucking entitled video game elitist. They don't have any real argument pre anything to say. I'm sure his childhood was rough and his mom smoked during pregnancy. Ignore and move on anon, don't give them the satisfaction their depraved lives need to continue.
