Pat Riley Basketball by Sega on the Genesis. The music was awesome and the detailed zoom ins for dunks and 3 pointers were so cool. I didn't even like sports but I played so much of that game.

Is it just me being bad, or is this game hard as shit? I used to play it all the time as a kid. Now every time I play it I get completely stomped. I can usually get a few runs, but as soon as the computer is up to bat it's over.

It's still fun, even if only to see how badly I can lose.

In the Dreamcast era I really enjoyed NBA Showtime, a Midway basketball game that was kind of a 3D spiritual successor to NBA Jam. For some reason neither Jam nor NBA Hangtime grabbed me the same way Showtime did.
