Possessioner is getting a translation!

The translator is probably some N3 fag. I wouldn't be too happy.

Prepare to be disappointed. I've played this game from beginning to end, and it's just your run-of-the-mill hentai game. Sure, the intro is awesome, but the rest of the game is just common drivel. You're part of an agency that fights against a phenomenon called Possessioner, where girls are possessed (lol) and gain the ability to control the hentai rapey monsters I forgot the name of... Biovector, was it? Anyway, once you reach the crime scene, you have to fight the possessed girl and her monsters in a very barebones fighting system. Once you defeat the whole group, your main character lezzes out with the possessed girl and exorcises her. Repeat until the end.
There's a nice twist in the end, but nothing major.

Also, don't post sluts on /vr/!
This game is nothing but sluts!

There's no translator. The guy in the RHnet forums said the screenshots he posted were machine-translated, and he's looking for translators. He's a competent hacker, because his group translated 46 Okunen Monogatari and Counter-Revolutionary War (both for the PC-98 as well).

>> No.5342171

Ah, just remembered. The hentai rapey monsters are called Biocluster, not Biovector.

No it was not, Floyd Steinberg has been around since the 80s, computers in 96 were more than enough of handling it and you'd be an idiot if you don't think sleazy drawn child porn artists wouldn't take every opportunity to cheat and half ass their work.

That is dithering for scanned photos you retard. It applies dithering across the whole of the screen. Now check any dithered PC-98 art. It has long swathes of solid color and dithering only where it needs to be. You would need a machine learning algorithm and plenty of tensor cores to do that (badly). Just closely look at the dithering patterns and you'll see they were done by hand.

>>5343054
You could not automate this kind of dithering back then, it requires manual work. What you refer to is used in the reduction process for true/high color pictures. This is unsuitable for graphics that need to maintain the pixel perfect look.

>> No.5343608

Always nice to see more PC98 games worked on, but it probably gonna be hard to find a decent translator for a pretty mediocre h-game

>> No.5343619

>>5343608
I'd volunteer, but translations are damn difficult, I'd pretty much need an English>English reviewer. I feel that just understanding is much easier. Or a skill I haven't trained.

>> No.5343658

>>5343619
What, a reviewer for translated English into more 'proper' English?
That wouldn't be too hard to find, would it?

>> No.5343663

>>5343658
Any reasonably capable English speaker could probably do that, but I'm not sure it would be worth it. You're still going to have errors from the machine translation, and it will never be the same as a real translation. (This might change down the road as machine translation continues to improve, however.)

>> No.5343667

>>5343663
Yeah I know where you're at, I'm using a machine translated guide for Fallout of Nevada, there's some things that just don't make it over the linguistic barriers those ways.

That being said, it depends how the text is in the first place. If the writing is overtly eloquent and characterized, it might be hard. If it's very plain and sort of 'just there' though (h-game, after all), it might be actually quite easy to turn a machine translation into a 7/10 script.
Not amazing, but you know, it's gonna beat having nothing at all.
You'll be screwed if it's all flowery dialogue, though, as machines can't really translate connotations very well and sometimes that's the heart of a character (who makes lots of innuendos for instance).

>> No.5343774

>>5343658
I guess it wouldn't be too hard to find. I'm still on the fence about it. It'd be a pretty big project and I have no experience with anything of the sort.

I'm not particularly on board with the hatred on "EOPs", since I was one (ESL) for a long time. It's because of the work of translators that my interest in Japanese media reached a level high enough to motivate me to acquire a new language to begin with.

>> No.5344304

There's already more than enough translations. And translations always lower the quality of a work so they tend to give people the wrong impression.

Anyone who pretends this kind of dithering is done by algorithm even today is a clueless fucking idiot.
Even using dither "brushes" you can still see a huge difference in output. Compare Mark Ferrari's Lucasarts work (hand placed in Deluxe Paint), his personal stuff (Cosmigo Pro-Motion brushes and by-hand) with his Thimbleweed Park stuff (Photoshop vectors with some brushes). It's night and day.

>translations always lower the quality of a work
Depends on the translator. A skilled professional translator should be able to maintain most, if not all, of what makes the source material good. Not a chance of that happening with VNs though. Not even official translations are good enough (although the Clannad translation was pretty good, and Steins;gate got very close).
