I unapologetically like achievement systems. Fyte me.

It adds nothing of value and only serves to artificially inflate gameplay.

Also achievements take dev time to implement and bug test, time taken from actual game content like unlockables and cheats

Games are so empty these days, that when you beat them once, that's basically it. The only thing left to do is get achievements that do nothing and fuck that.

Same. When done well they add nice benchmark challenges to aim for.

of course you do because you want the illusion of achieving without achieving anything being the lazy apathetic sack of worthless cunt shit you are.

Badly done achievements are pointless, but they can get you to try playing a game in different way and that can be fun. Old games usually just had easy, medium and hard. It would have been cool if they had built in achievements as well.

Doing a perfect Down the Tubes run for example. You don't have to in order to win but it's fun to show off.

Real achievements done properly are nice. Its something to try for and also lets you see what others have accomplished.

Dont waste my time with "you have finished the tutorial" though.

You only need a few really tough ones.

Usually the simple ones like that are just there to remind the player. Getting every achievement even in a lot of modern games can be pretty hard.

I think of it more like stat tracking. It can show that you beat a game without dying, or got the good ending, or beat Tetris game B lvl 9 height 5 or whatever. Replace achievements with stats and it's much harder to poke fun at the idea.
