I plan on buying a n64, I heard that there was some good games for the system and unlike CD based systems that there were no loud times. So I am wondering if any n64 owners can tell me some good games to get for the n64 and if there were any exclusive games for the n64 as well especially any good Japanese games. Thanks

Some lesser celebrated ones you usually won't find on all the top ten lists:
ShadowMan
Space Station: Silicon Valley
Legend of Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
Goemon's Great Adventure
Beetle Adventure Racing
Shadowgate 64
Top Gear Rally 2
Blast Corps
Rocket: Robot on Wheels
Chameleon Twist 1 & 2.

Save your money and get an Everdrive 64. You can store the entire library of official N64 games on a 8 gb flash card, and possibly even a 4gb. Most of the better games would fit nicely on a 2gb. It costs the same as 2 of the "premium" titles that resellers and collectors drool over. You never need to give these people money ever again. Buying a used cartridge based game is asking for trouble in this day and age. You may be buying a counterfeit or non working. Batteries may be dying at this point, risking your save games. If you plan on buying more than 2-3 titles, the everdrive will save you money.

Good Info for the OP. I just looked at my what I have on my flash card, and for NTSC-U I have 5.7gb and 367. Of course most of that is total garbage, and most of what is worth playing would fit on a 2gb. I have a file on my PC that is 85 of what I consider the worthwhile games and it is 1.25gb.

>i swear i see this thread every day
You do. In 10 minutes or so, you will start to see the "emulation" crew come in preaching about PCs being better at everything. I would like to say in advance that there is not a N64 emulator that will provide 100% accuracy on 100% of the titles. No amount of kvetching or personal insults will change this.

An actual system + Flash cart is the next best thing, and is the best of both perfection and access to the library.

The "Bomberman 64" we got in the west is called differently in Japan.
Japan got another Bomberman title called "Bomberman 64" that's not a 3D game like the others, but a classic 2D Bomberman. It was one of the last releases on the system, in 2001.
The best thing is obviously the native 4 player mode which doesn't require any multitap unlike previous games in the series.

Debatable. I prefer the controls on N64, plus it's also more challenging.
I'd say it's better to play DC version first, then N64 one for more challenge and better controls.

Best Japanese game for it was Sin and Punishment, but you need to remove the dust cover to play it. Be sure to get an expansion pack.

Best games in my collection:
Perfect Dark
GoldenEye
1080 snowboarding
Starfox 64
Mariokart 64
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Zelda Manoras Mask

Ogre battle: person of lordly caliber

I'm thinking of a few more but they had better ports (PC or otherwise) but I spent so much time on shadows of the empire it isn't even funny.

mission:impossible was a trashy game that I played a ton for some reason. it had something really fun in spite of the utter jank

winback: got compared a bunch to metal gear, but really nice in it's own right,if repetitive

Castlevania 64 should be obvious. the later version had an extra character and goodies, solid platformer that hasn't aged very well

Yes, and? MF is the best installment in the series, with proper twin stick controls and the hardest challenge.

Personal picks:
Road Rash
Snowboard Kids
Buckbumble

Why so much hate between the N64 and PSX?
My dad has always been a Sony fanboy so I grew up with a PSX, but my neighbor had a N64 and I had lots of fun playing Super Smash.

Eventually I bought my own much later, and I had so much fun with games like the Banjo franchise or Road Rush with some friends.
Both systems are worth playing to me, nothing wofth fighting over.

>mario 3 vs smw
>emulation vs hardware
>crt
>doom
>homm
>n64 never was good and ps1 never was good
>shmup vs jrpg

>metroid and castlevania debates
>sega only consists of sonic
>psp/vita vs 3DS (vs GPD vs Alibaba knockoff)
>pixel boobies

and then sprinkles of fallout/ crpgs and diablo. This is it. There is nothing else discussed here, in spite of the rich library of content /vr/ could provide. The autism this board has towards taking bait is ridiculous, it just ends in the same thread-shitposting
