whats your opinion on thte star fox series

>> No.5311112

It's bad.

>> No.5311121

It's good.

>> No.5311124

It's a very average series which doesn't deserve the fan devotion that it gets.

>> No.5311139

Any non ship missions are dogshit, it just be a simple shooter like n64 with 1 or 2 full range movement missions max and the rest just on rail or whatever it's called

>> No.5311142

>>5311081
It's okay. After 64 it's been floundering though. At this point I think smash bros is to credit for most of its popularity.

>Smash Bros. is so popular it's keeping Star Fox afloat
>Smash Bros. is so popular it allowed for Fire Emblem to finally be brought over to the West.
>Smash Bros. is so popular it made Square-enix relent and bring their most iconic character into the series.
>Smash Bros. apparently is NOT popular enough to warrant an official port of Mother 3 to the states.
Being a mother fan is suffering, lads.

I mean you already had a full English translation of Mother 3 for years now, what difference would an "official" release make?

They'd probably just censor a whole bunch of shit to keep the E rating.

>A new F-Zero game? Nah, here's your 200cc Mario Kart, enjoy.
It's not the same, Nintendo.

>> No.5311389

>>5311362
It's the same situation with the EarthBound Beginnings. We had Earthbound Zero for a decade and a half, yet we got an official release.

An official release from Nintendo makes a statement that the game's fan outcry is recognized by Nintendo, and that it deserved a translation to begin with. Of course, the reason why Mother was released first was because it already had been translated in the 90s, just never released.
Your statement about the ESRB is true though. They definitely would censor things especially the Magypsies to get a rating low enough for younger audiences

They kept the story the same while mixing the gameplay up since SNES/64.

They should have reversed that.

Zero was a bad idea from the start. We already had the 64 remake with the 3DS, and the mandatory gyro controls turned away many potential players, especially that far in the WiiU's life.

>Including the Gamecube.

Bullshit. Gamecube was more powerful than ps2. The thing that limited gamecube wasn't its power, but the format its games were on. The minidvd couldn't hold as much as a regular dvd. They didn't learn their lesson from n64 (cartridge vs cd)

>> No.5311632

Product of it's era, impossible to revive. I don't think anyone wants a rail shooter as a mainstream $60 release anymore and no one wants Starfox to be anything else.

>> No.5311749

I appreciate the O.G. game but it's harder for me to get into since I was exposed to 64 first.
I haven't tried 2 yet, but I'd like to.
Star Fox 64 is one of my top 3 games of all time.
I remember Dinosaur Planet being a let-down, and IDGAF about the rest.

From Nintendo's perspective, Star Fox was always only about showing off the hardware of the system. Back then it was graphics, but the Wii U only had its controller to show off. That why they keep forcing these things. They only made the 3D remake because rail shooters work great with showing off 3D.

> Star Fox
Wow, amazing action gameplay. What a rush!
> Star Fox 64
Gameplay not as intense but makes up for it in other areas. Awesome!
> Star Fox Adventures
Eh, never played it. A reskin by Nu-Rare of some random furry zelda clone. I heard it sucked.
> Star Fox Assault
Eh, never played it. Heard it was full of weeabo shit. Nintendo tried to make a quick buck palming this off to Namco. I heard there are too many "free-range" levels and they suck.
> Star Fox Command
Eh, never played it. I heard it was a lame early Nintendo DS game with strategy elements that didn't work too well. Dylan Curthbert actually worked on this, maybe it could be decent? Apparently all the endings are literal meme tier.
> Star Fox Zero
Eh, never played it. Heard it was an uninspired rehash of StarFox64. Miyamoto supposedly worked on this, specifically parts where you fly a mini-drone around in a base. But people say those were the worst parts of the game. Is Miyamoto's genius being misunderstood, or has he actually become an incompetent old fool? PlatinumGames are supposed to know what they are doing but apparently at least half their games suck. Maybe this is a decent game?
> Star Fox 2
Eh, never played it. I heard it was never released for a good reason. It seems like a quick follow up to the original with not much content. No levels just shitty dog fights.
> Star Fox Guard
I never played this either, but it actually sounds pretty legit.
> Star Fox (game watch)
I had this and used to play it all the time. It was awesome.

>> No.5313235

>for a good reason
it was literally because nintendo wanted Star Fox 64 to be a system seller for the N64. They were afraid SF64 would be less impressive after SF2, so they scrapped 2.
