Hey /vr/, I bought this bad boy on Steam and now I want to give it a try. Any recommendation ? Which edition should I play, Special ?
Also should I buy a joystick, and if yes, which one is the best ? thanks

I heard the GOG version is better, also yes you definitely want to play it with a joystick. It's a flight simulator, not a shoot them up

>every single dogfight is just <cut throttle and turn>

Prepare for a lot of repetitive gameplay.

Win98 Special Edition is still the best. If you want the IMUSE sound, there's a mod that rigs it in,

And as a matter of fact you do need a joystick/flightsitck/pad to play. The game wont start without one being connected.

You shame the Emperor.

Into the trash it goes!

Wrong

Get a halfway decent stick for this one, nothing too expensive, because playing it with mouse is hell.

It's okay. We understand that not everyone is smart enough to handle a game which requires more than 6 buttons.

This is probably the best joystick for the money for the non-enthusiast while allowing you to dip your feet into it if you want.

I just use whatever knockoff Xbox controller I have around. The easiest way to customize inputs on Dosbox is to just use ctrl+F1. You'll still need the keyboard as well; there are quite a few controls since this plays as a simulator.

I like to play with the music off, but a lot of the other anons love the IMUSE system, and if you play with music on it's essential.
