Its good, you might be able to tell but which Castlevania is the best is a hot topic here so expect to see a lot of extremes. 4 does a lot to make controlling Belmont easier and more intuitive, some say it makes the game too easy as a result. If you intend to play all of them, the shift might bother you when you play Bloodlines or Rondo.

Really? I found John to be the easier character because his whip comes out faster and his diagonal whip attack is easier to land. Plus his swing gives him i-frames out the ass and allows him to reposition himself, Eric's super jump goes straight up and then back down.

To this day I have no idea how to avoid taking a hit from the first boss as Eric if he walks too far to the left or right.

This game is harder than both CV1 and Rondo, though.

Bloodlines is arguable.

>> No.5272868

>>5268120
Easiest Castlevania, especially if you're doing them in order and have already played I and III. Though it has it's downsides, subweapons (except cross) are garbage and the bosses are really easy. The game picks up in difficulty during/after stage 8 with it being littered with instant death traps that can be hard to avoid since your sprite is so goddamn big it can be seen from space, and 9 being littered with hard to see bats.
A and B also have a few cheap death spots as well. But fortunately you get a checkpoint right before fighting Death in B.

What do you mean even now the second hand cartridges is more expensive than Castlevania IV in retro game stores even though Bloodlines is the most obscure Castlevania title

>> No.5273575

>>5273558
>Bloodlines is the most obscure Castlevania title
Not really, it used to be more known than Rondo of Blood.
The real reason might be that it doesn't have as many copies as IV does. IV is a launch or early SNES title, and many copies were produced during the console's years. Bloodlines was released in 93 or 94 right?
Look at Dracula X on SNES, even with the whole "lol bad rondo port" meme, it's still one of the most expensive in the series. That's because it's a late title = fewer supplies.

>> No.5273662

>>5272919
The Sega one. IV is a complete joke of a game with its sluggish pacing, babby-tier gameplay and sleep-inducing soundtrack.

>> No.5273684

>>5273662
I always thought the pacing was great, especially since its twice as long as your average classicvania, yet it's always filled with action, never gets boring imo.
>babby-tier gameplay
I mean, let's be honest, most CV games after III are easy. IV has diagonal whip, Rondo has item crash, Bloodlines has item crash + diagonal whip.
>sleep-inducing soundtrack
Only track in the game that actually makes me feel relaxed enough to sleep is the ending theme.
