Derelict moonbase whose occupants have fallen prey to a strange mind-altering virus. You have to wade through hordes of them to reach the source of the infection.

The sound files for all the enemies and the final boss already exist. Lunatic.wad means the textures will be easy to come by. The only thing left are sprites, and the only one that would be have to be made from scratch will be the final boss's.

Continuing these calculations. Let's talk temporary powerups.

Redsphere doubles damage. Vodka triples it. Extremesphere goes for gold and quadruples it.

As far as I'm aware, all three of these damage upgrades can stack together. If someone knows ZDoom better than I and cares to correct me, feel free to do so.

Now, the total possible damage for a quadshotgun altfire prior to any of these temporary powerups is 117600. Pretty good, but not quite on the same level as RO's superweapons. Let's get it up there.

235200 damage. Nothing impressive.

352800 damage. You might actually kill a player in DM with that.

On second thought you probably could get a firing animation from that. The best thing would probably be to edit the frame right after the red frame under the "hurt" animation with the "drowning" animation where he has his hands up.

Put a super shotgun barrel at his crotch so it looks like he's firing away while humping forward with his hands in the air. Add his yell sound from the first movie as a sound effect while he fires. Mirror the firing animations for the other side, then alternate that for the frames of the forward animation. Will look silly but it will work.

I may come back to it, I have some textures I need to replace and I didn't feel like bugging people again to see if there was enough ammo/health to make it through the level.

Also thanks. Right now I am doing another map, I scrapped another one and decided to try to restrict myself to a certain size and I am playing with monsters teleports at the moment (monsters teleporting to rooms you've previously cleared so when you back track you will always have something to fight). I am really digging this one. I am just unsure since the size of it if I should even bother putting it up at the moment for feed back or just wait until I feel it is fully playable.

How are you making the monsters teleport?

I hope you're taking advantage of the zdoom features since creating linked sectors and/or areas where the monsters can see the player and cross a linedef is a lot more complicated and less reliable than how you can do it with zdoom. Seems to make sense to do it that way if you're using zdoom/hexen or udmf for the map.

You could try just resizing the image to like a tenth of the original size. Paint.net is a free editor I use, it does have a pixelate filter I believe, but for making a low-res sprite resizing a hi-res image to tiny size is probably the simplest thing to do.

Of course then it's blurry and aliased like this. You'd likely have to enhance details like eyes manually. There's something to be said for good pixel art, I sure as hell can't do it.

And on Nightmare, they jump when you shoot a projectile toward them, even if you're staring at them.

-an item, RPG style (if you don't have the item what's the backup plan?)
-shoot the bastard (custom animations or standard animations which might look awkward since its on your body)

- get another player or monster to shoot it off (but you can't?)

- just have it drop off after X+random time

The attack I have in mind will cover your face with an "inside a metroid oh god" graphic and the troid sprite will overlay your own. Unsure how to handle attacks made against you.

That's the big problem with Unloved.
It wants to be a big ol' scary tense oppressive atmosphere, and it does. It's some really spooky levels. Then you get the same old SSG and go up against the same old imps and wheeeeeeee there goes any chance I ever had of being scared.

I have yet to play a decent horror thing for Doom, because all of them eventually devolve to circle-strafe-with-your-shotty.

Chaingun is your friend against zombies.
One on one with a Cacodemon? If you have a chainsaw use it.
Super shotgun should mostly be used to clear rooms or heavy enemies, don't use it all the time or you will find yourself out of shotgun shells quickly.
If you need to, lure enemies around corners and get them with the chainsaw.
Punch out Pinkies and Specters or use the chainsaw.
The berserk packs melee damage boost lasts for an entire level, pound some Pinkies, Imps, and Lost Souls with it.
For HUGE mobs you might want to use a rocket launcher or SSG.
Kill Chaingunners first, then any other zombie men since they have a tendency to be good shots.
Shoot the Cyberdemon until it dies.

All depends. The better you get the lower you can go. If you want to conserve some ammo on high tier weapons go with the Super Shotgun. At close range it can make it flinch thus interrupt its attack, of course when you don't succeed in interrupting it go for cover. Sometimes you should hog a corner and not let it pass the corner so it will attack on one side and you can just simply move back a bit and hang out until it stops attacking.

A BFG shot point blank one shots it which is useful as well. Rockets and the plasma gun at mid/long range since I personally find the SSG to be fairly poor power wise the further the range is.

Once you play something like The Plutonia Experiment you will be pretty good at handling Archviles once you pass the Archvile maze.

Being unable to get to the cacocorpse is intentional; the cacocorpse is put there so you know something is up.

To get to the cacocorpse you have to shoot a skull switch in one of the cubbyholes. It's piss easy to see if you climb the pyramid backwards or even just turn around once you're on the top of the pyramid. It's on the left side of the room exit door when facing away from the pyramid.

As for the BFG, leaving the room has nothing to do with it. There's a switch you have to shoot in one of the cubbyholes from the blue armor cubbyhole to open up the back of the cacocorpse cubbyhole. It's a lot harder to see than the other switch and a bit harder to hit. (If you're using vanilla vertical mouselook constraints then you can still hit it but you'll have to use the SSG and it might take you a couple of tries.


It's also possible to make the jump to the blue armor cubbyhole from the pyramid but it's a hard jump. Right now I have it set to spawn a soulsphere in there as an additional reward if you make the jump without using the teleporter but I forgot that I put one in the cacocorpse cubbyhole already. I'm going to change that to an automap and a bulk cell pack unless someone has a better idea. Would it make sense to change the cacocorpse soulsphere to something else and keep the soulsphere reward for the jump?
