Illusion of Gaia was really good.

I think that's fair, the combat is definitely not its strong point. Like I said, it's probably mostly nostalgia that brings me back to it, well that and the awesome atmosphere and soundtrack.

The manual claimed you could find enemies riding on big walkers like in the arcade but alas not to be found. The final boss fight was significantly easier than the arcade version and only 3 enemies at once eased the difficulty too.
