7 levels x 3 time zones x 2 acts each + 7 boss stages + a bonus stage = Over 50 levels marketing blurb

It's like how Donkey Kong Country's box claims "over 100 levels" because it counts bonus rooms as "levels".

>>5253152
Three acts, two of which have Pa/Pr/Fu, then the boss act which is Future. This results in seven variants (Good and Bad Future are just reskins). At 7 stages, this is 49 in total. Then you have the bonus stages.

Of course the difference in the eras is very minor so it's a load of bollocks.

Nope, I checked the last thread on last page, it's still the Seinfeld one. Some threads were deleted, so there's free slots for new threads without others threads dying.

no this is true
there's even a 97th level if you count that super secret area and 98th level if you count yosho's house

Why not count different futures and go all out. I think weak/no enemies is enough of a gimmick.
((4*2)+(2)) * 7 = 70

Meanwhile "The Sentinel" (C64, Spectrum, Amstrad, Acorn BBC, Atari ST, Amiga and PC) had 10.000 Levels. Even more than the Sequel "Sentinel Returns" (PS1 & PC).

you can thank the memory constraint for forcing micro computer games to use procedural generation, resulting in vast numbers of levels. telengrad had like a million rooms iirc.

obviously, most of these procgenned worlds are bland as fuck and lack actual content.
sentinel stands out as a positive example, though. the levels there have really high quality despite being procgenned.

There's really only about 50. SMW counts both normal and secret exits as one completed level each.
