I love this game but I fucking hate when games oblige you to go through 15 minutes + segments be them a gameplay section or a cutscene, this happens mostly on console and online games. I'm ok with epic long fights, bosses or whatever, but let me pause or even save and leave it for another moment.

seriously though once this song starts the game was forgiven for everything, it literally never stops sounding and looking good after this, and the short intermissions of plot and chilling out are exactly the right size.

also in a rare moment of serendipity the game is actually as good as it's music

Valkyrie Profile is great because it's a slow-burn starting out. You get a nice character arc for each of the randos you add to your party. It's not in a rush and it doesn't care what you think.

Shit, guys. Don't ever play a Xeno game if you get butt blasted over fifteen minutes.

The fanbase of Undertale is young adults who actually get laid and go through multiple relationships during college. You hate this. You hate that these people have sex with cute asian girls and this is literally the only reason you don't like the game.

And it is your hate that makes you repulsive in the first place.

3DS version, but the intro is still long as fuuuuuuuuuck, the game is a ridiculous timesink to where I traded it in at the 15 hour mark because I straight-up lost my patience.

Hnoestly just play DQ1, don't bother with 2 and 3, play 4 and 5, don't play 6 or 7, play 8, skip to 11, then go back and play any of the ones you missed if you really want to.

Or just play 11 right now.

It's a recurring complaint about VP, and that introduction sequence sure could be shorter or they could have sprinkled a few more fights. At least I enjoyed following the tragic story.

Now Star Ocean 2 is even worse in this regard. That geezer and his wall of trite exposition is insufferable.

While 15 minutes is already a waste of time and inexcusable for any game, this game literally takes about an hour to an hour and a half to actually start.

>> No.5251793

>>5249680
Star Ocean 2's beginning is a bit long winded, but it's not even close to Valkyrie profile, you're on the world map on the way to the next town in about 20 to 30 minutes and that's if you're sitting there carefully reading everything and exploring everything in the first town.

>> No.5251796

>>5251218
Let me put it this way, it's about as good as Final Fantasy 3 and for the same reasons. It becomes unnecessary because of the company of other DQ games.

I didn't have that much of a problem with VP, because while you don't play, the story is interesting.
I still like SO2 as a game, but the usual prophecy and macguffin seen in 90% of RPGs and told in the stalest way isn't the best way to captivate the player.
