It had a noteworthy engine featuring polygon made levels and sprite based enemies, first-person plattform did right once in a lifetime and back tracking before it was cool. Whats not to love about it?

Of course this only applies to the Sega Saturn version of the game. Exhumed (A.K.A. Powerslave) is the ultimate underrated first-person shooter yet to be uncovered by fps enthusiasts.

Bullshit I played both the console version with metroid like powerups and the DOS version with horrid arrow key controls.

How is this different from keycards and switch hunting on Doom? Metroidvanias are overrated as shit.

When compared to the bigger levels in the first Doom and the sequel? Little to any difference at all. This is from someone who thinks Doom levels are some of the best in the genre.

Also, enphasis on ''before it was cool''.

Cool version. The limit of ammo for bombs and cobra staff was increased. No idea why they did that for the Jap version but didn't keep it for the PAL version, PAL version which was released later and which holds many more differences (the jap version is identical to ntsc-u otherwise, except from the Jap stuff of course).
