Can someone explain to me why does he have pink hair in his sprite? The SNES could do yellow going by the color of the triforce on the title screen so what's the deal? He's not even pink haired in the game's official art.

This, why would be pink haired when his beard is brown?

Something to make his sprite stand out from the palette

It works like this: in an SNES game, any one tile/sprite in the can only use 16 different colors at a time (thus the term 16-bit). Normal Link and bunny Link use the same set of colors (palette), which does not include a yellow-brown for Link's hair. This is because, with the pink for the bunny included, there isn't enough room in the palette for that extra color.

not at all. 16-bit refers to the size of registers and maximum word size the ALU can operate on.
Also snes could allow more than 16 colors per sprite.

>>5237956
Because at that time, Link still hand sandy-brown/blond hair, and it doesn't jive well in motion with the other colors. The reddish pink provides better resolution and contrast between the color of his face and the brim of the hat than sandy blond. Bright blond like >>5328004 didn't apply to Link's character at the time and probably wouldn't look good among the bright green tones of Hyrule and the subdued tones of the Darl World.

In terms of hardware it's only 16 colours per sprite.

>> No.5238917

>>5237996
16-bit refers to the size of the "word" of the processor of the SNES, not to color palettes. Having more bits doesn't equal being better at anything, because we just started using 64-bit on everything a few years ago, and there are weird machines that use 256 or 512-bit words, and they aren't any better than a common 32-bit processor.

False, it was done purely to provide contrast for poor screens. Not to mention that changing something's pallet is a trivial matter. Look at Hyper Sonic in Sonic 3, this is done purely by pallet changes, same with the super rings in the second half of the game. It has also been proven that Link's hair can be hacked into its proper blonde color without any problems whatsoever.

>> No.5239324

>>5237956
Because red is the complimentary color for green. Link is kind of an unwilling hero however, you can't give him crimson red hair because it's too passionate (and someone else already has red hair). Therefor to go with the sort of natural color palette he has with the forest green and basic brown, he has pink hair that sort of pops but not too much. Pink is a really good color for accents on character designs because it balances well and you typically never see it in nature except on living creatures/plants.

Hey: do squats. No weights necessary, your bodyweight will be enough.

One day, when you can do at least 3 sets of 20, I want you to take a look at your quads and appreciate how T.H.I.C.C. they've gotten.

Then work on pistol squats. Your friends will be jelly.

When I was 13 years old I first got in shape by doing squats while playing Final Fantasy VII

I would do squats the entire time while playing, for hours, until I could not move anymore

and to this day, my legs retain a cut and lithe physique of strength and presence even as the fitness of the rest of my body oscillates wildly

My iron forged legs and solid core support me unwavering through life

I tell you, it has been more than a handful of times that I've leapt into the air and kneed someone directly in the face or grappled directly around their torso while I throttled their skull with my fists

strength in the hips and the legs is the core of all fighting techniques

A CPU is usually considered whatever bit size its lowest common denominator is. The M680000 has 32 bit registers but is considered a 16 bit CPU because it has a 16 bit data bus.

Because the width of the ALU, not the data bus, is what traditionally determines bitness. Both the MD and SNES CPU have a 16-bit ALU. The N64’s CPU has a 64-bit ALU.

the funny part about this is that his autism for link's hair goes beyond nostalgia for the zelda cartoon.

it's basically because some kid who bullied him growing up was blonde and thus he thinks everyone whose blonde is a dick.
